David G. Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 Hello Everybody! Here are the builds that I was able to complete in 2023. It was a challenging year on a number of different levels so I'm glad that I was able to get as much done as I did. First for the year is Bandai CielNova in Black. I picked this ki intent on challenging myself with some building diversity. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy building cars, but I also enjoy Science Fiction and Fantasy. Most of all, I enjoy building. And although I may branch out from time to time and build something else, I will continue building Model Cars, Mostly. I started this one January 11, 2023 and completed it February 1st in 12.5 hours. I also made a custom decal to place on it. It's a little design I painted on one of my old cars many years ago. It's a sort of Mech Warrior clan badge. Next is the Fugimi Lamborghini Countache 5000 qv kit by Fujimi. I've always wanted to build one of these. Well, it's more accurate to say that I've always wanted to own one of these cars but since that that is unlikely to happen, I'll have to settle for building and owning a model of one. I started 09/07/2022, Finished 05/19/2023 with 72.5 hours. This was a rather fiddly kit. One of the biggest challenges I had was the operable doors. I did get them to work but I just couldn't them to close quite right. The tail lights started as clear castings. I masked and painted the various colors for the multiple lenses myself. The third one for the year is 1981 1:32 scale AMT "Fast 111's" Corvette restoration. It had been a while since I did a model car restoration and I had this one in my stash so I decided to give it a go. Renovation commenced on February 12th 2023, and wrapped up April 19, 2023 with 34.5 hours worked. Before: After: I even made a little desk=top display case for it from a candy box. My fourth build for 2023 is the 1970 Plymouth Superbird, the second in a planned series of three. My goal is to build three of the iconic Chrysler muscle cars, a Dodge Charger, a Plymouth Roadrunner and a Plymouth Barracuda. Each in one of the High Impact Paint (HIP) colors that were offered by Chrysler between 1969 and 1972. So far I've built a 1970 Charger in Green Go / Sassy Grass green and this Plymouth Roadrunner in Go Mango / Vitamin C. Finally, I have my eye on Revell's 1970 Barracuda which I plan to paint in Panther Pink. I started the Roadrunner on April 19 and Completed it on November 20 of this year with 45.5 hours invested. Finally is the 1962 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II. I started April 26 and completed it December 9 with 46 hours worked. Though a very simple kit by all accounts, it was one of the more challenging kits I've built. The base kit is more than sixty years old and the molds are more than showing their age. This one required quite a bit of work to smooth out the messes caused by the misaligned molds. I'm glad I stuck with it. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to share any thoughts. Wishing you all a happy and prosperous 2024. David G. 2
