Rocking Rodney Rat Posted March 17, 2024 Posted March 17, 2024 With all of the renewed interest in the Uncertain T and the olde Monogram kit basically made of unobtainium, I was thinking about how the AMT Infini-T kit body does resemble the Uncertain T. After a quick Fleabay search, I located some Infini-T parts reasonably priced, so I figured, what the heck.... So, here's the "yard sale" of parts needed to put together a "Not Certain T". --------------------------- I assembled the body and started marking up cut lines.... ------------------------------- This might work.... Since this body has more curves than the Uncertain T, I decided to round the corners of the openings.... Anyway, I'm having fun with this. More as the project progresses... -RRR 8
FoMoCo66 Posted March 17, 2024 Posted March 17, 2024 This is cool. I've seen this done once but not as much attention to detail with the body lines. Looking forward for more updates ?.
Kit Karson Posted March 17, 2024 Posted March 17, 2024 Only you can make a silk Not Certain T from a sow's Infini-T rail-job! Certainly not a project for the faint of heart... -KK
magicmustang Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 (edited) I like it. Better detail on the side windows than I did. Edited March 18, 2024 by magicmustang
OldNYJim Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 Nice start - are you using the engine from the Infini-T, or something else?
Ridge Rider Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 I'll be watching. I bought one with the same idea and it looks your of to great start.

Expand I'm using an SBC (boring, I know) because that's the setup (siamesed exhaust ports) on the headers I'm using (chrome), stay tuned for more updates on this....-RRR
Rocking Rodney Rat Posted March 19, 2024 Author Posted March 19, 2024 The next order of business is to build the floor. It will have to made it two pieces so that it can be installed into the body. A trans tunnel will be added... -------------------------- with the floor installed, the frame can be fabricated..... ------------------------------ The width of the frame will be dictated by the grille shell. A quick change rear end will hung on coil springs, a notch for the QC will be cut into the body... ------------------------- Here's my (somewhat crude) frame, upside down. I'm using the front axle/spring from the Slingster dragster, so a suicide perch will be used.... More later.... -RRR 7

Bugatti Fan Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 Nice project taking shape here. Built the Monogram one way back. Often wonder why it was never re popped since. Have the moulds been destroyed? 1
James2 Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 I'm not Certain if this your special-T but I like it... 1
Rocking Rodney Rat Posted March 24, 2024 Author Posted March 24, 2024 I got some more done on the T this weekend. Working on the frame and suspensions.... The rear suspension consists of a QC with coil springs from the AlaKart kit and trailing arms from the Lil Coffin. The front spring perch part is laid out on the piece of plastic in the upper left corner... -------------------------------- The front end suicide perch has been fabbed up and installed. The axle is from the Slingster kit.... ------------------------- Next up is mounting the motor on the frame. I glued on temporary cross braces to set the engine up while making the mounts.... ----------------------- The frame is pretty much done here.... -------------------------- I made a dashboard from some quarter round and a gauge panel from the Boot Hill Express (?)... --------------------------------- The dash will fit like this into the body, some filling and filing makes it look okay. A few more items to work on but I'm getting close to the paint booth... More later...RRR 6

Rocking Rodney Rat Posted March 28, 2024 Author Posted March 28, 2024 This one is headed to the paint booth. Lots of chrome! I still need to shorten one set of headers. I'm keeping it very simple, no wiring and such... -RRR 5
