Bentley Blower 4.5 litre 1930 Les Mans Airfix 1/12 scale

Recommended Posts

Built this a while ago...This was my first go at a large scale model . Needless to say it required quite a lot of work

especially in the engine compartment. Wood lamenated floor..scratch built firewall ...trunking and piping ...dashboard  and in

the cabin. I used insect screen netting for all meshing except the radiator which was hollowed out and rebuilt with photo etch meshing

Hand laced wire wheels . Fabric folded canopy. Modified springs ...Bolts shaved off and replaced with new bolts to scale  All chrome parts

de chromed and re sprayed with metalizer paint which was then hand polished  .

Finished with gravity paints and lacquers

I worked for Bentley for a few years and these cars are very intricate. Quite simply, there is just a lot going on throughout these. You did an amazing job representing the details. Great build!

Excellent, Louis - you are one of the very few who manages to let plastic look like metal. Very nice your spoke wheels and the rope-covered steering wheel.

You captured the atmosphere of the original very well - here are some pics taken in 2008 in Vienna's technical museum (Special exhibition "Chromjuwelen") - unfortunately it was situated on a rotating turntable together with a Bugatti Type 35 and an Alfa Romeo 1750 Zagato and sharp pics could only be taken with flash ---

I can imagine this was a lot of work, but it certainly paid off.

I just can't stop staring at the pictures ; I always find some new details.
Some pictures, especially the engine, look so real...
