Haha, what??!  That's nuts KK. I squinted at each successive photo with no improvement in comprehension until the mockup was revealed. Wild!

I have progress. Putting the top back together wasn't too bad. I had to make a filler piece using two different thickness of sheet plastic. Used the tamiya extra thin cement to weld it in place. Sanded it down using sanding sticks of different grades. The tough part was sanding and cleaning up the inside and around the drip rails. But it came out pretty good. Finished the A and B pillars also. Haven't put any primer on it yet, but I'm sure there is going to be some areas that will need to be worked on.

The cowl was smoothed out taking the barb that runs around the outer edge off and filled the indentations for the lights that can be mounted there.

Also did the window frame while I was in the area. I cut the top off the frame and taped it into place. Then the bottom piece was cut to fit, put in place and carefully glued so it could be taken back out. The frame was cleaned up and ready to be put in place. But before that could happen, the windshield was cut down to fit the frame as it is a lot easier to do now than with the frame in the body. And the frame was installed.

I haven’t been on the forum for a bit and came across this build-off. I got 3 of these kits as soon as they were released and already have a few of the original releases on the shelf. With that being said, I’m a few weeks behind but I’d love to join in!

I spent a couple hours eliminating anything in the kit I don’t want to use and digging through parts boxes. I’m not entirely sure what direction I want to go just yet but I think I’m certain I’ll use the hemi from the 5-window kit. Suspension is either going to be kit parts or a quick change with transverse leaf and dropped I-beam in front. Since the 90’s I’ve built quite a few ‘32 Fords but only ONE ever had fenders and I may do it again on this one. Suspension and wheels/tires will be determined based on the fender decision. IMG_1772.thumb.jpeg.92048ffa6b579d4635117637b710396c.jpeg

There are a few more kit supplied parts I may use but they’re not pictured here.

This is a very old mockup, but the project never progressed further than collecting the parts and tucking them back in the box, so it's perfect for this build-off.  Going for a late 60s look.
Orange Crate '32 Sedan, Parts Pack slotted wheels, Blue Streak slicks, resin Lil Deuce grille from Drag City Casting, and a BBC with a cobbled-together Man-a-Fre intake.

It took me a while to finally purchase a second AMT '49 kit so I'd have two sets of exhaust tips from that kit to use as velocity stacks. I have aluminum ferrules that almost work but they're a tad too thin. The Merc tips are perfect!
Seats are either going to be diamond-pleat buckets by Drag City, or '67 GTX seats which have a bifurcated horizontal rib pattern that matches the grille...but they might be a tad too wide; we'll see.

Color TBD but I'm leaning towards tomato red or orange.

We've got until October to finish, right?

Maybe I'll have time to drag this one across the line: de-tuned Offy powered, 6-speed manual box, fabricated front independent suspension, rear Jag MkX or XJ, etc.

I did the first mockup way back in 2012.

I saw that picture a couple weeks back and am inspired by the exact same car. My goal is the same aditude.

I’m having to start over. My first attempt failed because the body was from the old Revell re-issue of the orange crate and the condition of the body was not good. So I did manage to find the more correct 32 Ford.Tudor to use. It’s not going to be an accurate representation of the Lil coffin, but it will serve as my inspiration.

I've been slowly working on my sedan. I'm using some parts from the AMT Phantom Vickie [sic] kit. I cut off the molded in trans mount on the Revell frame/floorpan and added in the tubular center section from the 'Vickie' kit. Now, working on the exhaust system. The powerplant is from the old Testors Boyd's Smoothster kit. I had some of the parts (intake, valve covers and pan) aftermarket chromed several years ago and this build seems like a good place to use that mill. The transmission is a T5 from the parts box. The block hugger headers are from the Revell '37 Ford.....

I decided what I needed to do is do a wedge chop. I cut 2 mm out of the C pillars and about 4.5 mm out of the windshield posts. I kept the back window stock height. Cheers

Small update. The rear of the chassis narrowed and body work in progress with a rolled pan installed to cover the rear of the chassis rails

This next update for on my '32 some may like, and some may not. I decided to rid the belt line from the back of the body. I like doing stuff no one would expect. And this act of foolishness kind of works. But after removing the belt line, another alteration was going to be needed. The back window now being the only thing to look at across the back of the body, looked like it is frowning. These windows on the 1.1 cars were never like this.  Yes, the window had a slight arch to it but nothing like this body has. Way too much arch at the bottom of the window. Really noticeable, especially after the belt line is gone. So, to remedy this problem for me, I decided to remove the back window and replace it with a rear window from a '30 ford model A. It doesn't have some of the exact features of the '32, but it does not have what I'm calling a sad or frowning look to it. And I think it will pretty good.

I already have part of a '30 model A top to get the back window from that is left over from another project I have going. When the window was cut out, I made sure to get the radius (or curve) of the roof in the cut to make it easier to blend into the sedan top. The opening for the new piece was cut out by hand to keep the fit tight.

Here you can see the amount of the radius of the roof that is in the cut of the new piece.

In the above picture, you can see how much I missed by. All body work is done on this area and ready for the next step.

Finishing how the belt line was going to end required some slow meticulous work with the old jeweler files. The results came out to about what I was hoping for. Overall, I am happy with what I did to the rear of the body. There could always be something else that comes along.

Wow @Speedpro you are taking a wild move changing the back window and back body mouldings. I note there is quite a difference to the curvature of the body between the A and 32 bodies so you have your work cut out for you. When I looked at the 32 rear window of my build and referencing to online pix, I see what you mean by the wrong shape at the bottom of the window. I would not have known otherwise. Damn is this a case of unseeing something.

I see you have removed the moulding that runs over the cowl. I too have removed this on prior 32 builds for a more streamlined look. I am dithering on this. Also a little unsure of removing the roof insert as my reference build had the insert but I am taking a more modern approach so will more than likely remove it

Got to working on mine this week. I wanted a tri carb setup on a SBF. Something like this.Screenshot_20240628_163106_Chrome.thumb.jpg.9b7577312b76a97bb916074c7f4baaad.jpg

So I combined the flathead intake and the sbf intake to get this. 20240628_162107.thumb.jpg.418a993149b51a2c6172d9521aff7ea8.jpg20240628_162121.thumb.jpg.81c9d423cf0aa09bcf4a471d3224823c.jpgFor the wheels and tires I wanted a vintage look with halibrands. So i decided on the kit halibrands, pie crust slicks, and bias plie tires. So this is what I came up with.20240628_162235.thumb.jpg.38e75f9992559b782ca14806226419eb.jpg

Oh and this is my first attempt at chopping a car, this is how it's going.20240628_162250.thumb.jpg.b1fb858bff0c9591817a42bb265fcd95.jpg

Thanks for looking.

Been working on the body by removing the top fill in panel. Removed the moulding with a chisel knife Xacto blade and then started in the sanding sticks. Startedimage.thumb.jpeg.f906490e9774a1afe7984e131fee1fed.jpeg with 230 and now need to work through the grades to about 1000 - 1500

Update on my 32 Ford Tudor:

The plan is to cut down and graft in the rear custom piece from the Monogram Lil Coffin. I think that this will work with my early 1960’s look. It looks like I’m gonna have to relocate the gas tank. It may go into the inside of the interior in the extreme back. What do you guys think? Any ideas?
The suspension I’m using is modified from the kit
