Hello Everybody!

This is Monogram's 1966 Chaparral 2D Coupe. It's my first classic purpose-built race car model. I found this kit at the 2024 Desert Scale Classic in Phoenix.

I have a build thread for those who may be interested in seeing the WIP photos. Here's a link:

That's all for now. Of course I have a few more photos to post but I'll get to those later.

Thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to post any comments.

Excellent build of an iconic racecar. Watched your WIP and am impressed with some of the small, almost unnoticeable, details you added. Will be using your WIP as a tutorial when my Chapparal gets on the bench.

Thank you Ricky, it's nice knowing you enjoyed the WIP I posted. I've found that sometimes the smallest details can make a big difference and it's nice having that effort recognized. I'm flattered that you've chosen my WIP as a guide when it comes time to assemble your Chaparral.

Thank you.

Beautifully done and presented David. Such a beautiful race car and a must have on the shelf.

OK now, one done, two to go!

Thank you very much Pierre.

Ah, you've been keeping score! :D

It took me a moment to catch on to your reference.

Cool model, David - I have been following your WIP with interest - great looking wheels!

Thank you very much Helmut, I'm glad to know you enjoyed it. I too am quite pleased with the wheels and how they came out.

Very well done.  One doesn't see too many of these models.

Thank you very much James. When I saw it at the Desert Scale Classic swap meet this year, I just knew I had to have it.

I have a place of honor selected to display it. As one of a set with my other two favorite supercars, the Ford GT and Lamborghini Countach.

This has always been a nice model and you built a very sharp replica. Never knew there was a pre-painted driver version.

Thank you Tony. I'm really glad that they pre-painted the driver. Otherwise, I might still be working on this one! :D

I followed the WIP!  Excellent work and a fantastic result!  Love how this turned out.  An iconic car and you certainly did it justice.

Great work!  Always loved the looks of the Chaparral's.

Thank you Jim. I agree, the Chaparral is right up there with the Ford GT 40 and the Lambo Countach.

Good looking Chaparral, David. The rear wheels are such an improvement over the kit wheels. All round nice work.

Thank you Trevor, I'm glad I got lucky having those wheels included in the kit.

Hello Everybody!

As many of you probably know, I have a tradition off finishing off my builds with a shot of the completed model in my main display case. Sort of a "cherry on the sundae".

So here are the Display Case shots... yes, shots as there are two, for the Chaparral.

Here is my traditional Display Case Shot! ...but we're not done yet.

The Chaparral's permanent place will be one of honor and distinction, among my other legendary (and favorite) supercars!

And with that, we conclude the build for Monogram's 1966 Chaparral 2D Coupe.

Thank you to everyone who offered their support and encouragement through the comments you posted.

As it should be; really enjoyed watching this build.

I'm curious about the 56/8 Chevy pickup, have you done a build thread on that one?

Thank you Ricky, I'm glad you enjoyed the WIP. Those don't seem to draw as much attention as do the  postings in the "Under Glass" section.

If the truck you're referring to is this one:

50_Chevy_00a.jpg.981d0ea7ca30b2008600d2f6f78d1c77.jpg

Then, no. I don't have anything posted to this group that I could find. I thought I had posted some photos to the MCM forum at one point but if I did, I couldn't find the thread.

Here's a better photo of it.

50_Chevy_01.jpg.fb58293007a5482bfc974b67af0ba028.jpg

It seems that the only current online posting for this truck on is my old personal web site.

Here's a link: https://daveag.com/models/automotive/chevy_truck/chevy_truck.htm

Embarrassingly, the site hasn't been updated in nearly a decade. I plan to correct that soon... hopefully.

Thanks again, I certainly do appreciate your interest.

I was actually referring to the blue and white one parked beside the Chaparral.

Ah yes, I'm glad you asked!

That one is my personal pride and joy. It's actually a nuclear powered concept car a 'la the Ford Nucleon.

Here's a link to the WIP:

Again, thanks for asking! ❤️

Just went through the WIP, great concept and some outstanding detail work. I really like the "fighter aircraft" cockpit controls.
