Radretireddad Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 (edited) This is the AMT 1970 Malibu SS sitting on the AMT 1969 Olds Cutlass 442 chassis. Because of the cost of new kits I’ve become rather hesitant to do more kit bashes lately but this one pretty much fell together. You’ll need to transfer over the windshield cowl and fender edges and trim back the cutlass firewall in order to get the chassis set far enough back against the Malibu’s unmodified interior tub and that’s about it. About a 1 to 1/2 mix of Tamiya X-12 gold leaf and X-33 bronze comes real close to 1970 Chevrolet autumn gold. Needless to say this quick bash will also work for the AMT 1972 Malibu and GTO. Thanks for looking. Edited August 22, 2024 by Radretireddad Added another front end pic. 14

espo Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 Beautiful looking color and finish. I built one of these AMT Chevelles a few years ago and was disappointed with the overall fit and finish as well. Like the way the chassis looks.
TransAmMike Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 Very nice Bryan, the color, finish and engine all look terrific!!
BK9300 Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 Great subject car - wanted one when I was in school - amazing level of finishing!
Bainford Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 Sweet Chevelle! Looks great in gold. Nicely done.
catpack68 Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 Very nice work! ?I will definitely use that AMT 69 olds chassis for a 71 Chevelle project I plan to build
karbuildr Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 Very well done Chevelle. Great color, very nice details.
Pierre_tec Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 That gold looks so nice! What’s make you kitbash those models, what’s wrong with the Chevelle chassis?
Bills72sj Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 Way cool. I am a fan of those Cutlass high parts count chassis too.

The 442 kit is far more accurate, virtually drops in, and adds steerable front wheels. Thanks for looking. Edited August 20, 2024 by Radretireddad
