I hope they will also consider doing others such as the '48 Pontiac Streamliner (long wheelbase) or Torpedo (short wheelbase) sedan-coupe (Pontiac's name for this body style). Here is my Dad's '48 Streamliner: Me too dude, me too! I had a derelict, but perfectly drivable '48 Pontiac 4-door sedan for a while in 1999 that I picked up for a few hundred bucks in a Dennys parking lot randomly one weekend.. Always wanted to make a model of it somehow.. If there is ANYBODY that can make a '46-48 Pontiac kit happen, as well as the stones to do it, it's Moebius! 1
chryslerjunkandstuff Posted January 17 Posted January 17 ALSO, because of Moebius' proven track record, this could be the first of a whole series of 1942, '46, '47, and '48 Chevrolet cars.. Aerosedans, coupes, convertibles, even a 4-door knowin them! How killer would an Indy Pace Car version of a '48 be?? I only know two things about this announcement - 1 - Whatever Moebius has in mind for these, it's gonna be cool! 2 - Just like with the Hudsons, Chryslers, Pontiacs, Dodges, Plymouths, and Ford pickups, I'll be buying and building every '46-48 Chevrolet that they release!
carnut Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I am glad to hear this and the possibility of the other 46-48 Chevrolets coming out. I also agree I would sure love to see a 41 coupe and a convertible come out this. i also hope that they will use the original art work done by Jairus Watson. His art work is top notch. I have got two customs going from the aerosedans. By the way, hopefully the magazine will republish Jairus Watson’s old article on how to lower the stock suspension - for those of us who like to do period customs. Can we say high school confidential? 1
mangodart Posted January 18 Posted January 18 One of the most enjoyable kit I've built, like other people here I had to add chrome molding with sheet styrene. And it is also good to do test in advance with front fenders which are seperate from body.I remember I had to lowered the suspension to have a correct lengh, especially on the rear 6

It's perfect. 2

Probably my 3 favorite kits as I remember seeing these vehicles on the road often while growing up. The next door neighbor had the coupe as a daily driver. They go together without any major problems. The one major change I made had to do with the poor quality (in my opinion), of the chrome decal type accent strips. I replaced them with homemade ones using thicker styrene rod stocked shaped to duplicate the decals and BMF foil. Beautiful looking builds. I also used the same method for the side trim on the Aero Sedan I built. Would still like to have an opportunity to build more of these.
thatz4u Posted January 18 Posted January 18 (edited) Maybe old school dual exhaust & split manifold could be added to the new issues... Edited January 19 by thatz4u 4

Oh dang, that's a new one on me, never woulda thought somebody tooled one up! Make it refrigerator white, keep the chipped up paint, and lose the hubcaps, and that's what mine looked like.. Thanks for posting this!

The actual kit debut, which was thought to be just around the corner at the time the article ran in the mag, was delayed and didn't come to market until well after the article ran....TB 1
Can-Con Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I just hope Moebius will price them in line with their other comparable kits. The reason I never bought one in the past was Galaxie pricing them at roughly twice the cost of other kits. [if not more] I know they're nice kits but I can't really see paying a premium price for a kit that's no more "premium" them pretty well all Moebius' other car kits.

Casey Posted January 19 Posted January 19 ^^ The curve of the upper front door window frame looks off on the Best Model Car Parts version. There's something funky going on with the curvature of the roof there: 5

I doubt there will be anything but straight reissues of the Galaxie Limited kits. Moebius seems to have more than enough on their plate to keep them busy and financially stable for many years that they needn't invest in risky, oddball subjects and variants which appeal mostly to the lunatic fringe. 4

I believe the side windows are a tad too tall as well...but it's still a great place to start, at the very least, and some body line and proportion issues don't bother the vast majority of car modelers anyway (from what I hear and read). 1
