Harry P. Posted April 29, 2009 Author Posted April 29, 2009 Harry, I've never owned a Mustang...(I'm NOT a furd guy). Neither am I! If I get a Mustang it would be my first Ford ever!!!
Harry P. Posted April 29, 2009 Author Posted April 29, 2009 I think I found my car! I'm going to see it tomorrow morning... it's just outside of Rockford, about 1/2 hour from me. Stay tuned...
58 Impala Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Nice ride! Perfect color choice. Good Luck with it and enjoy it.
george 53 Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Harrrrry, THAT'S SHARP!!!!! Not bad lookin for a Ford! REALLY like the color. The paint scheme looks all Shelby-ish. So C'mon, spill the beans, dude. What's she packin? looks mean enough, can it back it up?
gasman Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Nice Choice, Vista Blues a great color. good decision going with the V8 GT

So C'mon, spill the beans, dude. What's she packin? looks mean enough, can it back it up? 300 hp 320 lb/ft torque 0-60 in 5 seconds top speed 150 mileage 17/25 Oh well... can't win 'em all!
Rick Schmidt Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Very nice car Harry I love the color combo. Even got the Bullit style wheels on it. One of the better looking wheel choices
James Flowers Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I just knew a Mustang would win you over. Good choice on the GT.
Joe Handley Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 (edited) 300 hp 320 lb/ft torque 0-60 in 5 seconds top speed 150 mileage 17/25 Oh well... can't win 'em all! I don't know, 300hp, 320ft/lbs, 5 sec 0-60, and get's 25 on the highway sounds pretty good to me I'd just hope that I wouldn't have black and white sedans following and waiting for me to do something stupid........................... george 53 Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Harry, My '01 Eldo and my 95 Impala both have 300 horses(the Impala makes a FEW more than the Eldo, caz I "messed" with it) and they're both fun to drive! They get about the same in gas mileage too. Just don't look as "sporty" as your car. Just be careful with the 'ol "Johnny Law" caz that lil scoot 'o yourn will definatley attract some "yung punk" to wanna run ya! Will the wifey be drivein it too? If so, DETUNE it! I've found that women have no fear in a fast car! They LIKE fast cars! And they like to DRIVE them rather than to just ride in 'em! It looks fast an hopefully ,at our age, we've learned to respect them. Enjoy your new toy,and I hope you have it a long time!
camaroman Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Harry now you gotta get a big stick to beat the Honeys off.... Nice ride!!! Love da Blues....... Repeat after me... I will not mess with the traction control I will not mess with the traction control
Zoom Zoom Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I saw about a half dozen of them (2010 V6) today at Road Atlanta, they were all rentals. V6, side stripes, saw bright red, metallic red, metallic gold, grabber blue. The blue is awesome. I really like the look of the new car, taillights included. That was the one gray area, now that I've seen 'em in the wild, I like it. The new V6 front end is much like the 09 GT500. I like the V6 front end better than the fussy GT front end, but the new GT500 is really sweet.
Harry P. Posted May 3, 2009 Author Posted May 3, 2009 I've spent most of the day on ebaymotors. Let's see... so far I've bought a new billet aluminum grille, louver panels for the rear quarter windows, and some "retro" style chrome bezels for the taillights. I'm like a kid in a candy store! Somebody stop me! This Mustang business sure is fun!
James Flowers Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Harry's been introduced to a world of never ending fun. Like having a model, so many choices and fun things to buy. Has your right foot got tired yet ? Have any tread left on the rear tires? Have fun Harry.
BigGary Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Aaron & Harry's idea of renting is a valid one. Since 1997 I've rented a version of the car I was considering before I boaught one. It cuts out the rude surprises. Always wanted a PT Cruiser until I drove one, the windshield is too low. Drove an Intrepid, loved it, bought an LHS. Rented a 4 door Dodge Ram, couldn't wait to get the one sitting in the driveway for 3 years now. Rented a Neon in 2000, I've had 2 since, love 'em for short trips. If you want a Mustang, rent one for a weekend and put 200 miles on it, then you'll know. Gary
Jeff Johnston Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Harry, I've rernted several V6 Mustangs. They're not great...but not bad. Not a WOW Car.. Admittedly, I think the manual tranny might be a lot more fun, so my comparing that to an auto mught not be fair. I've driven a couple GT's. Its WAY more car, in every way.... The other side of this coin is that you can get an 06 (or so) V6 manual for REAL short money. I bet if you had the $$ to put real dual exhaust and a cold air intake, you'd probably be pretty happy with it. My friend and I both had 2000 Mustangs. Both V6. His was true duals and he had that cold air intake on his. I will tell you that his car drive like an enirely different car....So there's an option for you.
Harry P. Posted May 4, 2009 Author Posted May 4, 2009 Apparently some of you guys haven't read through this post very carefully... I already bought one! I got it home yesterday, it's a 2007 GT with only 2.900 miles on it! Still has that "new car smell" inside! Check out the photos earlier in this thread.
Nick F40 Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) Cool Beans! Yes, and in my color scheme! Ehhh the Mustangs OK but a P71 is better They could SMOKE that Mustang! Just kidding with you Harry, that Mustang is sweet, you'll definetly have fun with it, I like them. Edited May 4, 2009 by Nick F40
Harry P. Posted May 4, 2009 Author Posted May 4, 2009 Harry,I knew if you got behind the wheel of a GT,you would buy one! I really like the colors on yours. Just curious, did you try a V6 also?? No. When I found this one, I knew it was the one I wanted!

Though, I see you came to the same conclusion that the GT was a whole different car. I have to tell you that every year I waffle back and forth. I have a 69 Sportsroof that I have often considered selling to get the latest style GT convertible. I have not had the guts to actually do it, but I have seriouslty considered it. The new GT is a great driving car and I am happy for you.
