You can subscribe from The U.K. if you want to. Tick the International link and it becomes a choice. You can even get a digital subscription.

I just tried to subscribe ...no option for the UK....I do not need the magazine so no need to worry about postage ;) but happy to pay $40 a year....i think we should and if one can not afford $40 a token donation better than nothing or cope with the adds.

its there because i subscribe. you need to use the international option

It is not working i tried! ..Bills words and a top contributer.

There's no way to pay at the moment, but it's good you think it's worth paying for.

Maybe more people will speak up...

Sorry, that's not what I meant.

There is a way to pay for a subscription to the magazine.

If it's not working, it's most likely a temporary glitch, and I'm sure the management appreciates you bringing it to their attention.

BUT...what I meant is that there's no SEPARATE way to pay for access to the website that removes the ads...which I would be happy to do IF it was an option.

See above. Les has added it to the list of things to investigate.

You may get your wish, if people keep adblocking the modest revenue we receive that pays the bills for this site.

Without giving too much away, this has come up in staff meetings, and we are discussing what paid access might look like. Very VERY early stages, but this is an option on the table. :)

At some point, we'll be asking for opinions from the masses. 👍

If it's so modest, it shouldn't be hard to figure out what the per-member ad revenue averages out to, and give the option to people who hate ads to pay that amount not to see them.

I'm hardly a website or forum specialist, but I have encountered websites and forums where ads are not displayed if a viewer/member satisfies one or several criteria.

You would, of course, have to come up with a way to block access to anyone who isn't paying and IS running an ad-blocker...because people cheat.

I have no idea, naturally, if your site software can support anything like this.

don't know if this has been mentioined.... I've seen content providers use Patreon for users that will pay for extra content (or just any content).

that being said, the proliferation of Youtube and faceborg channels might start migration from this forum if members get upset about financially supporting what they have been getting for free.

My position has always been that people who are willing to see ads plastered all over everything can still access the site for free.

It's only those of us who want an ad-free experience who would voluntarily pony up bucks to offset the lost revenue from running ad-blockers.

But like I said...people cheat.

the benefit of the forum over facebook or you tube is as a reference. i know i use it to look at other builds of kits i'm building, even if i'm building a completely different style. you can usually zoom in a pic but not a video and good luck finding anything twice on facebook. my facebook is nothing but archeology when i'm only in model groups so i only use it to message mum. if she would learn to carry her phone i'd never use it, lol

here is the issue i have i do not have credit or debit cards and i do not have a bank account that is set up for digital payments so i can't pay for memberships online
i use ad blockers on my laptop and desktop so i don't get  legit ads and scam BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH ads  it is the reason i do not have cable or sat tv either  i watch or read reviews or clips of new tv shows then decide if i will buy them when they come out on dvd or standard blu-ray
the only way i can order stuff online is using big box stores online stores or amazon and their gift cards which i pay for with cash and those are limited to just being used on those online stores

You can get a Visa or Mastercard card that you load with cash and use it anywhere they're accepted, which is pretty much anywhere.

the only ones i can get are the visa gift cards cause they do not require a banking info  which i have no access to my bank account info due to having a representative payee handling it
but i hate buying the visa gift cards cause they have a activation fee on top of what you put on them which no other gift cards have
and i have limited extra money each month most of it goes to resin for my printers and spray paint and glue for models and other items which i get or order on the first of the month and then i generally have around 10 to 20 dollars extra  left for the rest of the month except during property tax seasons in the spring and fall which generally zaps most of my extra money for the month by half so it really is not feasible to pay for those visa gift cards
i use ad blockers also cause i do not have any anti virus systems on my laptop and desktop except for the firewall due to me using a refurbished 10 year old macbook air and imac so the  4 or 5 free ad blockers do give my system added protection while keeping the stupid annoying ads away

Yes, I saw all your excuses as to why you don't like using that option but you do have that option.

limited extra money is not a excuse i only get around 900 a month and most of it goes to paying my utilites each month i am lucky when i can get the extra  and when it is spring property tax season i end up only have maybe 200 left over to use for my hobby supplies or other items  for two month since those property taxes can be split into two month payments and when it comes to the fall ones it is broken into 3 monthly payments and i have around 300 left over to use on hobby supplies or other items so i don't get the full amount and i also get my payment from my payee in cash and then have to get a ride to go to a store since i do not have a car nor a driver's licence since i could not afford car insurrance anyways let alone the type of car i want  i also do not have any state id cause i do not need one as i do not smoke or drink alcohol so no need to pay for that little plastic card  or a passport since i don't fly and can't afford plane tickets or hotel accomadations so no point is paying for one either

Michelle, I don't think that the admins would make it to where we HAD to pay to access the forum........ Maybe a paid subscription to the forum would do things like make it ad-free. The mods and admins are a great bunch, so I don't think they would lock any of us out.........

I belong to a photography forum which gives members the option to be a supporting member. It gives different tiers of support and incentives such as free access to marketplace, etc. for supporting members. It's a donation system and works well. Members who are logged in do not see any ads or banners.
