Dave B Posted Tuesday at 02:12 AM Posted Tuesday at 02:12 AM Ok, after 40+ years I have finally finished my take on the Bill Thomas Cheetah as driven by Jerry Titus. The debut came in January 64 at Riverside Raceway. Unfortunately while leading the pack the lower radiator hose broke dumping water under the rear tyres. The car went off on turn one, mounted the guard rail and went over the top. Jerry survived but the car was heavily damaged. My interpretation is based on a Cox slot car body, a '63 Corvette kit (engine and rear suspension) and a lot of styrene!! Painted in auto acrylic and clear coated, decals by Patto. Tks for looking. Roger U Posted Tuesday at 03:02 AM Posted Tuesday at 03:02 AM Very nice Cheetah build. Real clean with nice details and paint 1
Mike 1017 Posted Tuesday at 12:49 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:49 PM Excellent build of a Holy Grail Car 1
1959scudetto Posted Tuesday at 01:40 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:40 PM Dave, you (again) created a very impressive model here! It certainly must have been a handful to drive this car: sitting almost on the rear axle trying to handle the brutal power - probably like bull-riding at a rodeo! 1
Rich Chernosky Posted Tuesday at 04:16 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:16 PM Another masterpiece from you Dave. Good art takes awhile. Glad you finished it and thanks for sharing. What happened to the car Titus trashed? Did they re-build it.?
TonyK Posted Tuesday at 07:33 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:33 PM Great looking model. That paint job is excellent! Never understood why a model of this car is not available. 1

Hi Rich, and tks, I'm really glad I finally finished it, just a shame my mate who gave me the bodies ( I also built a curbside CroSal roadster) never got to see it. My understanding is the wrecked aluminium bodied car was rebuilt and sold, but with a fibreglass body. Dave B

Dave B Dave, your model inspired me to search for a _Cheetah - I found this (in Australia): https://www.thepartsbox.com/shop/the-parts-box/slot-cars-parts/1439-cheetah-body-pack/ Do you know anything about them and their quality? They offer a Lotus Cortina, too. From their website, the models are looking quite good. Have you any experiences ?

It's not 3D printed, just taken directly off the Cox body kit For AUD60 you couldn't go wrong!! Dave 1
MAGIC MUFFLER Posted Wednesday at 12:39 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:39 PM Beautiful..!!!! Very well done and looks amazing! I work for Gooding & Co. and we are selling an original Cheetah at our auction in Pebble Beach in a couple of weeks (it is also red with red interior). A guy I work with is 88 yrs old (still working!) and he had a 1965 Cobra 427 that he bought brand new. He mentioned to me yesterday how he used to race against Cheetah's back in the day (1965-67) Nice to see your build. 1
kensar Posted Wednesday at 03:22 PM Posted Wednesday at 03:22 PM Very nice final result, Dave. The paint looks super smooth on this minimalist car. 1
ea0863 Posted Wednesday at 06:11 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:11 PM Fantastic build David! For some reason, the Cheetah has not gotten a lot of attention among model kit manufacturers or diecasts. I managed to get a 1:18 Replicarz version not too long ago, but did not even know about the Cox body. 1
