I just bought a '72 Boat Tail Riviera, a true barn find (yes it has a '71 deck lid). I have always loved these cars and can't believe I actually own one. Car has been in a barn/warehouse since 1989 and moved to a car wash stall until and put up for sale.  I made an offer and brought it home.  Here is what it looked like when I first saw it:

I got it to the house about 2 weeks ago.  Got it running, initially with a small fire in the engine bay.  After some wire chasing and correcting - i had it running off a gas can for about 15 minutes.   Someone has really butchered the wiring, and the interior needs gutted and re upholstered.   I have all of the mouse nests out and have been working on it in the evenings after work.  I'm working on the mechanicals and trying to bring back the paint.

Here is what it looks like after a bath and some polishing on the hood:

That's absolutely awesome. A boat tail Riv is on my list of cars to get one day. Used to be a black and white '71 or '72 in town, sitting in a camping trailer storage lot, rotting away. Then one day it was gone. Have fun with your car. Red is a great colour too.

Congrats, Chaz. That's a cool project, for sure. An excellent find, and looks reasonably tidy,... on the outside, at least. Well done!
