ericmaxman Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 What a nice subject. I do have a 1/18 diecast (or rather my dad) of that one, but I would love to do it in 1/24. All i have to do now is to find someone to import it here....
Custom Hearse Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 (edited) I need to get about 10 of those kits.... I have friends who want me to build one for them, especially the guy that has the full size car. I got to sit in it, but he wouldn't let me drive it . By the way.... do you have the kit #? Thanks for showing us that Gregg. Edited May 16, 2009 by Custom Hearse
Zoom Zoom Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Cool Hope to see the parts ASAP; I'd love to know what the wheels (optional) and decals look like. You'd think since Revell had this kit in full view (built and parts trees) at the Milwaukee NNL that someone would have taken some nice photos...nope, it was ignored, all I saw was one small photo of the overall scene on the table, no details were able to be picked out. Sometimes I get the impression that 99.9% of model builders don't care about anything newer than 1970
MikeMc Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 It's great to be king!!!! More pics later tonight. Yes, it has a full engine/chassis. The real shame is you'll never finish it!!!!! I get UPS daily...so I'll be waiting

kelson Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Great looking box art, hope the contents are just as good.Picked up amt's versions and was pretty impressed with them.
RodneyBad Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Looking good. Nice, 2 sets of wheels too. Can't wait for them to hit the LHSs.
Rob Hall Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Looks good...the optional wheels look boring, though. I've got ideas for 2-3 of these, 1 stock and a couple SEMA show style builds..
Lownslow Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 those stock wheels look small, this is a maisto d cast i repainted
Joe Handley Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Parts pic Looks even better, kept thinking I was looking at a '70 CHallenger at times though
Modellpularn Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I've seen a couple of real cars over here, if you can believe it.... A friend was in Florida for vacation in February, and snapped some pics of the new Challenger. We thought the body looked kind of tall, or high from the rockers to the tops of the doors. Section it.....? Or paint it black at the bottom. Or some trick stripes lengthwise to create an illusion the body isn't so tall.... I thought the engine compartment looked short too...... Those other wheels look like they came from the '06 Mustang GT.... I might get the kit eventually, after the worst hysteria is over! And then.... I'll cut it up, maybe!

Or some trick stripes lengthwise to create an illusion the body isn't so tall.... I thought the engine compartment looked short too...... Yes, I always thought the car was too "tall" and "fat" to be really appealing to my view. The car's platform is based on the Charger/300 so it's stuck with those unfortunate proportions. The dash to front axle distance of the platform unfortunately dictates the length of the hood which seems short to me also compared to the original. In better times Chrysler would have designed this car from scratch (just like the old days!) but with them about to be bought out by Fiat (maybe) this car will most likely be short lived. A pity..........
gasman Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 its looks good, my only issue is that it looks like the front fascia is molded with the grill in it. that could make it a PITA to paint. I wish they did like AMT did with the seperate front grill. its looks good. very similar layout to the 06 Magnum, but since the Magnum and the Challenger share alot I suppose it should.

I wish they did like AMT did with the seperate front grill. its looks good. very similar layout to the 06 Magnum, but since the Magnum and the Challenger share alot I suppose it should. I just finished the AMT R/T version and the separate grille did make it easy to paint. I see the Revell kit does have the black-out guide on the windows which was a real pain on the AMT kit. It looks to me that those who were waiting for Revell's full detail kit won't be disappointed. It will be interesting to see both these kits built up and side by side. -Steve
E St. Kruiser50 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 (edited) Cool Sometimes I get the impression that 99.9% of model builders don't care about anything newer than 1970 Was there really anything after 1970 ???? Isn't that why the U.S. Auto industry is in trouble ??? - NOW YA GONE AN DONE IT DAVE. BOY OH BOY, AM YOU IN TROUBLE NOW Edited May 19, 2009 by Treehugger Dave
george 53 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Dave, I do beleive the auto industry took a putz in 75, when roger smith decided to homolgomate ALL of G.M.'s lines to please himself(after all, he WAS an accountant and NEVER a car man) and keep the costs down. HE ALONE is the reason G.M.'s in the state is in now. MONEY was his bottom line, not style, sellability, nor customer service, and I told ALL my bud's at work, he was gonna kill the company. Now, maybe his fate was WORSE than ours(GM employees), since HE was responsible for ALL this, and he's dead an buried. GOOD RIDDANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fletch Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 When talking about building after 1970, you run into the idea of building Chrysler "K" Cars. I don't know about you but I didn't feel my pulse rate go up even 1 beat per minute when I think about "K" cars. The big three blew it. They wanted to rest on the idea that the American auto buyer would remain true to them. By the time they figure out they were wrong it was WAY to late. After all how many warmed over Camaro, Mustang and Corvettes can you build before you start building pre-1970 or Tuners?

Eshaver Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Dave, George , uh hemmmmm............. Uh we had dem Vans anna Pick ups ! Yeah we had real stuff till Elvis took a powder and went to the Great gas station in the sky with hiss Cadillac. Sure we had to deal with stupid A I R pumps E G R Valves Feed Back carburators and Lean Burn Puters , but hey , Trucks was still fun............ I'm reminded of that every day as I spend a little time each day trying to find a few obsure pieces for my 1978 Ford F-100. The beauty of working on this truck is evident as small thjings like pulling the spindles down and cleaning the rust out makes the truck so much easier to steer as it came with no power steering . Eventually , I will tacle the pinho;e rust on the body but for the time being, unrusting an old gasoline sending unit and making it work again is a total joy to me !
