WARNING MCM MEMBERS!!!

I GOT SCAMMED!

I was looking for a 1967 mustang, and I got a message from an account here on MCM by the name of Ellin Jack. They provided me an email to contact their friend who had a mustang kit. Pecker Stone was the name of the contact, and through email we came to an agreement. Payment was via paypal for $55 CAD. After some back and forth, they gave me a second paypal email to send my money to. Once I sent it, someone who didn't speak english messaged me asking why I am sending them money, and then refused to send it back. DO NOT TRUST THIS ACCOUNT. ELLIN JACK AND PECKER STONE ARE SCAMS!  Paypal denied my request for reimbursement due to the setup of the transaction.

Be careful of who you email, what they ask for and what you send.  

 

If anyone knows anything about this, please let me know.

ellin jack was banned a while back. every message asking you to email another member to buy parts is a scam. if the other guy was really a member they would email you. if they have less than 100 posts then we suggest not trading with them.

If that's the case you might want to close these accounts too, someone approached me with a similar offer a while back.

they are. all of these type of message are scams, especially if less than 25 posts from the member. use the 3 dots to report them

we dont have any control over private messages. what you guys do between yourselves is up to you. posts offering to buy or sell will be removed as that is against the rules. if you do though, it is nothing to do with us and at your own risk. just be sure you trust the member.

Yup, somebody knows someone that has the parts/kit you need, seen it more than once here unfortunately.

Unfortunately this scam exploits the fact there are no restrictions for pm for new members. The first twenty five posts are moderated though.

The pattern is always the same a new member with no post count referring to an third party that has the item for sale. This scam is called the WTB(want to buy " scam and is not limited to just this site.

Now they're using the names of members in the scam. Ramfins59 hasn't been on here in about 4 years.

use the 3 dots and report it to us. just posting about it means we have to look for it but if you use the 3 dots its right there in front of us. also, the named members aren't involved. the scammers search for dormant account names to use

Dave Gage just loined up last month and is currently on site as I type this Les. So they're actually using current members names now.

Folks, when you get these pms please report them using the 3 dots. we cant see your pms unless you report them. by all means warn other members but remember the 3 dots. they make it much easier for us, thanks

He asked some really odd questions on the  Model Building questions & answers Forum, so the scammers are playing along more now.

I believe that Ramfins59 is modeling at the same bench as Snake and Plowboy. That makes this even more messed up.
