Mark W Posted September 11 Posted September 11 This is another level of modeling. Molding a body on a buck is a talent I can only wish I had. This will be most interesting. Are you making this a full build?
Dave B Posted September 11 Posted September 11 This is going to make my Cox slot car conversion to full detail look pretty ordinary!! Go for it. Dave B
Bugatti Fan Posted September 11 Posted September 11 (edited) The Cheetah is a bit of an oddity as a car. Either you like it or you do not. It does not appeal to me personally like Charlie's concept Bugatti, but that is just personal taste. But, I do like following Charlie's work, regardless of subject matter. Fascinating to learn from the techniques he uses as a retired engineer myself makes his projects all the more interesting to me. His working in Aluminium on this model will be really worth following. Bugatti Fan Posted September 11 Posted September 11 In case this has been misconstrued, and to clarify my comment, I do happen to like Charlie's concept Bugatti very much. It's the Cheetah that does not appeal to me as subject matter.

Dave B Aahhhhh, no Dave your Cheetah is awesome. Now this build is on the next level. Really can’t compare it to our plastic kits. I’ll never attempt anything like this, but I’ll follow it every step of the way! 1
Bainford Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Another super ambitious project. This will be an interesting watch, for sure.
Codi Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Charlie, Now you're just showin' off.......... 😀 Cheers, Tim
charlie libby Posted September 21 Author Posted September 21 cant keep up with you or Francis . hope you are doing well. nice to hear from you all. this is a big project. much thanks to David Bantoft for the chassis drawing. i got a good start on it. still building the 55 also. got to keep an old mind and hands busy. here is a few pictures. to make all the uprights the same and make sure the fish mouths were in line on both ends. i fished mouth one end and soldered them on a piece of tubing so i could clamp them in the vise to fish mouth the other end with a .150 ball endmill. this way all would be the same. i started on the front fascia with the grill opening. i am doing alot of research. found a lot of picture but no technical drawings. measurements are hard to come by as i am sure David knows. sorry noel, cheetah was always a favorite of mine . stay with me, it might grow on you. 3
BK9300 Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Always inspiring to watch one of your creations come to life!
Dave B Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Looking good Charlie. Don't forget the body has massive tuck under. My old Cox slot car body had a high oil content and I was able to stretch the body over the chassis frequently without breaking the window frame line on the body. Aluminium will be a bit harder to stretch!! Dave B
Dave B Posted September 22 Posted September 22 PS, not sure what reference material you have but you need; March '64 Hot Rod; November '63 Sports Car Graphic; and November '63 Car & Driver, preferably in that order. Dave B
absmiami Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Wow - great cutaway - i’ve got a fetish for those - thats yiddish for …. Fetish ….
charlie libby Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago thanks for following brian. david i will start looking for those 3 magazines after this. hi Andrew, when are you coming this way? no stretching David got to fit right. I am going to have to build mostly off the buck after the windshield frame is made and attached. i cast 4 blanks to machine the tires . i can do them on the lathe because they will be slicks . going to take a while . i am looking forward to finishing the 55. thank you all 2
