Revell 1985 GMC Jimmy 4x4 High Roller

This kit is a variant/continuation of the Stranger Things 1985 Blazer kit and is out now. Here are Revell's official photos for reference.

Thanks for posting the photos.

Seeing the details is a real let down.

The Tires look bad (very shallow treads), No Brush Guard, no Swing-away Spare Tire Rack. No Gas Can.

No Respectable 1980's 4x4 Nut would have called this a High Roller (or anything else)

I'm glad to have it, of course and will be getting one or two, but a Light Bar & Rims/Tires, does not a weekend 4x4 make.

Revell, this barely gets you to Second Base.

I hope the next extension on this kit, brings more MOJO to the table.

I noticed that this kit is about $10 more than the Blazer, not sure if that is because of tariffs or Revell charging more for the few extra parts tossed in. 

I did notice in the pictures of the assembled kit that a few parts need to be fabricated to provide accurate depiction of the underhood area, notably the heater hoses and A/C lines from the accumulator to the compressor and condenser.

Not sure if I will pick one up, already have a GMC grille for a Blazer kit and I am sure I have some tires and wheels from Fireball that would yield a better look that what is shown in the box art.

Some white tire lettering decals on the sidewalls will improve the looks.

I was originally very exited when these kits were announced but when I found out the grille/bumper area was out of scale it kinda threw water on my plans. 

I actually did measure the grille of a real '84 C-20 pickup one of my uncles has a few months ago and found it to me almost exactly 70" across the top of the grille. 

I don't have one of those kits but I do nave a few MPC/AMT C-10s and found that they're about the right width or possibly a hair wider. Pics I've seen show the Revell grilles are noticeably wider then the MPC. 

That said, I probably will eventually will build a couple of these, more likely if they bring out a pickup but as it stands now I can wait.

Yes, the Revell body Is definitely wider than the MPC...the MPC grille is too narrow for the Revell body...I had posted these pics back in February in a Blazer thread.   Canuck 3D makes some different year Chevy and GMC grilles specifically for the Revell body.

I’m also surprised they didn’t bother with some blocks to lift the suspension, it looks weird with the stock ride height. Obviously they are easy to make, but another example of not giving that little bit of extra.
