crazyjim Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Does anyone know of a way to get 2021 Mazda soul red crystal metallic paint. I don't want to buy a big touch can for just a model.
stitchdup Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago since its a recent shade i'd try your local auto parts store. by the time you take shipping into it, it'll be near the same cost anyway
iamsuperdan Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Splash Paints will custom mix anything you want. Airbrush Ready. Shake, Load, N' Spray!
crazyjim Posted 8 hours ago Author Posted 8 hours ago Thanks for the info. I'm going to check Splash Paints.

iamsuperdan Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Thinking about it, most body shops can mix up small batches. It would probably be a pint, which is a lot for scale models! There's also this company, which will mix up smaller quantities of literally anything. ScratchesHappen | Superior Touch Up Paint Kits I plan on trying these guys out. Just thin it down and see what happens. Pricing is reasonable.
jaymcminn Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Soul Red is a tri-coat with a high-metallic red base, red toner and clear coat. Any single-stage paint won't capture the look. If I wanted to steer toward hobby paints, I'd try Tamiya Mica Red over Silver Leaf. That might give the right reflectivity and scale metallic look.

It definitely is a multi-stage paint. I'd do what you suggest but add a coat of transparent red between the metallic red and clear coat. That should get you pretty close. But it will need that transparent red coat for depth. Edited 6 hours ago by Can-Con 1
