Possibly, but just like trying to substitute anything other than a ‘58 Plymouth for Christine, I think a LOT would be lost in the translation.

I hear that often.

In all honesty, I wasn’t a huge fan of either one, but I respect their appeal.

I enjoyed the story line and seeing the cars in Christine, but it was rife with bad acting.

Not in my top 100 favorite movies list.

Just my opinion.

I actually enjoyed the book and hated the movie. Anything newer than early-70'swould lack a soul, therefore it could not be evil.

Christine.     A production line car of that era !   

Best left in the era to which it belongs.

If a film with a new iteration of the car were to be made, to Christine fans it would just not hold up, but if anything  newer could be deemed spritually close it would have to be the Chrysler 300.

As a huge fan of the book and the movie, I think they were both good in their storyline. But I agree that the movie is a classic and should never be remade. That's not to think I haven't thought about it before. My opinion is that a "new" Christine shouldn't be a hot rod, more sinister looking or decked out in black. Remember, Arnie finally found something that was uglier than him. A plain sedan, even if it was a Fury. A 20 year old car that a high school student could afford isn't going to be a Charger or a cyber truck. It's going to be that Pontiac Aztek or a bagged out Honda Accord. Something that looks simple, until it's evil reveals itself. Just my idea.

It’s just a big, boring box.

Just my opinion, but a remake might work with a better lineup of actors, and better directing, but I still wouldn’t change the car itself.

If it ain't broke, why try to fix it ?     That is my own personal take.

No need for a remake with a 'better' line up of actors. Big names will not necessarily make for a better film. Nor will another director or more up to date CGI for that matter. The original film is of an era and captures the brooding sinister  atmosphere around the car and its nerdy owner very well.

The modern Chrysler 300 is a bit of a brick on wheels, but if a modern version of Christine (heaven forbid) was ever made it would epitomize a big American mass produced car as was the original Christine. I don't think that cars like Mustangs of Corvettes would quite fit the bill somehow.

Slightly off topic note. When the "modern" Chrysler 300 was introduced the first thing I thought upon seeing pictures of it was "They copied the car from the movie 'The Car'".
