Pierre Rivard Posted Tuesday at 08:04 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:04 PM (edited) Vignale bodied Ferrai 375MM driven by Phil Hill (Richie Ginther co-pilot) to a second place finish at the last (1954) edition of the very dangerous Carrera Panamericana. Fernando Pinto resin kit. I built it close to OOB save for some engine and instrument panel detailing. Primer was spray can applied but all other finishes were brush painted. I chose to finish the vehicle in a satin finish and add weathering to reflect the car at the end of a long day of racing on dusty roads. Edited Tuesday at 09:33 PM by Pierre Rivard 6
Claude Thibodeau Posted Tuesday at 08:09 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:09 PM Salut Pierre! Wow, great build, bravo! The light weathering is effective, and the patina of the seats is absolutely life-like. World class. CT
drodg Posted Tuesday at 08:12 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:12 PM Wow ! Fantastic build and yes that patina is something.
1959scudetto Posted Tuesday at 09:08 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:08 PM Your excellent detail work and convincing weathering turned this resin kit into a marvellous replica, Pierre - bravo ! You must send the pictures to Fernando!
MarkJ Posted Tuesday at 09:19 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:19 PM Pierre, as per usual your build is an amazing thing to behold. The realism you add to your models is unequalled in its perfection by anyone else. it's always such a joy to watch the images over and over again picking up something new every time. As I always say, I cannot wait till your next offering to us mere mortals. Don't make us wait too long.

Next one will be a return to my new love... the salt! 18 hours ago, drodg said: Wow ! Fantastic build and yes that patina is something. Thank you David. I posted my simple weathering method in the w.i.p. thread. I like the results it produced using just brushes and pigments. 17 hours ago, 1959scudetto said: Your excellent detail work and convincing weathering turned this resin kit into a marvellous replica, Pierre - bravo ! Fernando has been very supportive in replacing many parts for this kit and I thanked him and attached photos of the build, which he immediately posted on his site. He really supports his customers. 17 hours ago, MarkJ said: Pierre, as per usual your build is an amazing thing to behold. Lots of head scratching as most of it will need... scratch building. 1

Weathering a white car is challenging, the shift from too little to too much can happen so fast. 15 hours ago, Belugawrx said: She's a beaUty Pierre Thank you Bruce. I think taking the risk to add weathering does add interest... and helps hiding the so so paint job. 11 hours ago, Roger U said: Great looking model. Full admiration for you and others achieving impeccable body and paint finishes with resin as the starting point. 5 hours ago, Kolu said: Outstanding , love it ,even the dust in the tyres ! Cheers. Thank you Philip. I took extra time with the wheels and tires and I'd say it contributes a lot to the realism of the build.
Rich Chernosky Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Pierre....that is spectacular. Followed your WIP. Your artistry with paint is beyond compare. Congrats on a great job.
kensar Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Superb model, Pierre. Amazing what you accomplish with brush and pastel.
Phildaupho Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Beautiful build and great to see as saw Phil Hill drive it at the Monterey Historics many years ago.
Mark W Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I love everything about this automobile! The weathering really puts it in its true element. If I had to pick a single element on your build, it would be how well you placed the wheels, giving it a perfect stance. This is where a lot modelers miss the mark. Beautiful presentation.
