Monty
This is my 2nd resin purchase. My only previous resin purchase was from the Modelhaus & I had mixed feelings - delivery was timely but quality was not quite what I'd been told to expect. In this instance, I happened to find Scale Modeling by Chris via a Google search for resin wheels. I was just wondering if anyone else here had dealt with him. If so, were you pleased with the quality? Does he deliver relatively quickly? Thanks!
dwc43
I've bought some things from him. Showed up in reasonable time and most of it looks great. I bought several of those resin cast dist. that are pre wired. Caps are molded in factory and aftermarket colors and you still have to ca the cap to the shaft and the shaft has to be painted. Got some ignition boxes. They are molded in color but needed a little clean up. Decals looked a little big for some of the boxes too, but I made it work. I got the et sprint 5 slotted wheels. They looked good. I think they are Alclad cause it will rub off if handled roughly. I got two of the Thunderbolt hood bubbles to mod for a totally different car. I knew I would mess one up and I did. They seemed to be on the thin and flimsy side though. I'm not very familiar with resin yet, so that may or may not be the norm. You can see one of the dist. in this finished asphalt car I built and showed at this link. And there's a link in the post to the progress pages. You might be able to see it more clearly there. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=21139
dwc43
i've bought some stuff from his website before, but had problems almost a year ago not being able to view some pages, then, now the website appears to be gone. i was wondering if he was even still in business. Dave Maybe you're not using the right url. It worked fine for me. http://scalemodelingbychris.com/smbc_partsp2.htm

The one I used is by SMC and it's in the last two pics on that page.
MikeMc
I ordered some of Kris Morgans dist from SMBC Quick and prompt service!!
Bernard Kron
I have done business with SMBC quite regularly for the past year and a half. Shipping is always within 48 hours of order and quality is very good. I primarily order small parts and the Morgan distributors from him. Products have always been first rate. I know several builders on this forum have purchased resin bodies and transkits from SMBC and have, at various times, said in their posts that they were quite happy with them - the bodies seem to be of the high quality thin white resin variety. I'd bet as the day goes one you'll hear from some of them with their impressions. As for me, I give SMBC 2 thumbs up! curt raitz
I concur with Bernard... I have been very pleased with the products and customer service provided by "Scale Modeling by Chris" I have not played with his decals, but find his resin parts to be 1st rate Give Chris a shot and you should be pleased

purplehornies
I have used him 3 times in this year for parts and a 32 sedan body. All of it is first rate and fast delivery. I bought my stuff off of his E-bay store. Not a single problem.
Raul_Perez
I have also bought a several products from Chris over the past few years. Except for one decal set that he promptly replaced, everything I've bought from him was good quality, and typically much better than most of the resin stuff I've seen at some of the swap meets. I'd have to say that it's up there with Norm's stuff from Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland. Later,
PlasticWagens
I have had great dealings with Chris and his products are first class. My only issue I have had was on his Gapp & Roush Mustang II decals they were quite transparent. I would like to get 4-5 of his new Gapp & Roush Pinto decal sets, but he has never responded to 2 prior email attempts to ask if the new sheets have gotten any better. I know Raisin here has done a lot with him and uses / displays his products on a regular basis and ALL his stuff is killer!

crowe-t
I have a few small parts from Chris, including a set of Pro Stock slicks and front tires, but don't have any of the car kits. Does anyone have any pictures of one of the car kits?

I would have no fear about ordering any of his stuff.
jeffb
actually, chris is no longer involved with smbc, and hasnt been for quite awhile. his brother paul was always the driving force behind the endeavor and is now the sole proprietor of the operation. buy with confidence, paul is a great guy to deal with. george 53
Paul is a GREAT guy. Kinda quiet. but not NOWHERE near as nutty as the REST of the guys!(At least to ME he's not!) IF you HAVEN'T ordered anything from D.R.A.G. (Detroit Resin Auto Casters) Do so with COMPLETE confidence. They are a PROFFESIONAL group of guys who will do whatever it takes to provide the BEST service available. They REALLY care about their buisness AND CUSTOMERS! These guys are the folks who OTHER casters WISH they could be like! I'd put them up to Replicas in Miniatures, ModelHaus, or ANY OTHER resin caster that is a REPUTABLE buisness, Yep, they're THAT GOOD!!! highway
I have the 72 Ranchero that I know used to be on his site, and it is top notch! I also bought the 351 Cleveland to go with it, and again top notch! The engine even comes with a pre wired distributor and, if I remember correctly, decals for the engine. That is the only this I wish that the Ranchero came with, I don't have the side stripes for the car!
crowe-t
Matthew, Thanks for posting those pictures. However it does say 'Motor City Resin Casters' on the box, maybe they both shared the molds. As soon as I can get some funds together I'd really like to pick up one of the SMBC Pro Stock Pinto kits. Does anyone have any pictures of the SMBC Pro Stock Pinto kit? The pictures on the SMBC site are small. Mike.

Whether it was his and MCRC took it over or are selling it for SMBC, maybe one of them can answer that and give more info..
