Art Anderson Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Kitted in 1961, fully posable 1/24 scale figure, with several variations possible from the kit. This is a current test shot from the original tooling. A bit of puttywork, hmmmm? Art
Jon Cole Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Previously made from unobtainium, hopefully this run will be in styrene.
george 53 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I THOUGHT these little guys were gonna be repopped by some guy who posted it on here about a year or two ago. I remember he needed a particular number of pre orders or something like that. Yes, I TOTALLY agree, they would be NICE to have back!!!
Sixties Sam Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I would buy a few of them. I'm using G scale model train figures on my dioramas, and they're not very good. I had a couple of the original Ulrich Mini-men figures in the 1960's. I posed one to be the driver in a 1/25 scale go-kart that came with some pickup truck model, and another to ride a motorcycle model. They looked pretty good back then. Sam
kingiguana Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 (edited) Kinda cool, but yes break out the putty. Unless You're going for the artificial limb look ! Hey heres an sick idea, now I can do the " Drummer from Def Leppard" diorama ! Add a little long hair and early 80s vette in pieces, in a field , Bingo ! Edited July 28, 2010 by kingiguana
Peter Lombardo Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Wow...does this bring back memories....as a kid I built a few of these guys. I had one bent over working under the hood of an AMT 289 Cobra and one in the drivers seat....then I had one working on a 1963 Sting Ray Convertible. And yes, I remember doing a lot of putty work on the limbs of these guys. It is always great seeing these old childhood model cars and accessories coming back. It is wonderful to recapture a little bit of the "good old days" of modeling....(I refraned from calling them the "Golden Age" as many think this is the Golden Age).
Jairus Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 I want! Any idea who is producing these and when they will be out?
Chuck Most Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 I've heard much of Ulrich's Mini Men, but have never had any in my posession... maybe that'll change soon. I've heard so much about them I feel obligated to have a few in my stash!
charlie8575 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 If the price is right, I'll buy a few. Charlie Larkin
jbwelda Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 i think i have a whole box of original packs i bought at an NNL once for a few bucks. most of them are 1/32 though i think...but i remember there were some 1/25 (or as mentioned, seemingly slightly smaller). they were fun to make look right but really anyway you do it there is some amateur surgery in the cards to pose them. i remember i used one as a pilot of a closed cab race car and it was challenging to get it looking good but it ended up well. good to see them return to the market because they are getting rarer in original form. i think one of these pilots are minimen:
Mr. Metallic Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I THOUGHT these little guys were gonna be repopped by some guy who posted it on here about a year or two ago. I remember he needed a particular number of pre orders or something like that. Yes, I TOTALLY agree, they would be NICE to have back!!! The same parties are involved that were originally gauging interest and taking pre-orders in Nov 2008. They have overcome the various bumps in the road and are very close to taking true orders for these. Stay tuned
george 53 Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 THAT would be GREAT!!! I remember he was talking about 5 bucks a set. I THINK you were gonna get TWO mini-men per pack. It sure would be nice to have em back, Tamiya's Campus Freinds are getting hard to find.
randx0 Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Believe it they are on Ebay right now for around 15.00 .
Draggon Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Straight from Ulrich @ $5.95 + shipping! http://www.ulrichmodels.biz/servlet/the-590/Ulrich-Mini-dsh-Men-1-fdsh-24th-Scale/Detail

That is kind of sick and twisted (don't let that fact stop you, though!!!! ), but since they're made by a company called Ulrich, I'm thinking of making a 'replica' of Metallica's drummer, Lars Ulrich!
Tony T Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 $3 each...great price point for sure!! They are "cheaper by the dozen"...or at least by the tens!! Will have to see how much the shipping is to Canada...
randfink Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I did this one as a mockup for an article for my local club's quarterly newsletter. They're pretty versatile lil' guys! 1
Casey Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Are these the same as the Ulrich Mini-men, just repackaged for auto world?
Don Sikora II Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 It looks like they are the same. I only have original 1/32 scale Mini-Men that are still in the package, but they were packed with one tree (two mini-men) on the card. The Auto World package shown has two trees (four mini-men).
FASTBACK340 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 I just bought 2 sets on e-Bay. Thanks for the heads-up! I remember these little guys from my youth also and now they're back!
FASTBACK340 Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 In two days I had my order..... and they look great. Thanks again for posting this.
