Daniel Lynch Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Hi all, there is my latest built, an 1970 Chevelle SS396, i use 3 kits to built this Chevelle, an AMT 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo, for the engine, center console and some other components, an AMT 1969 Olds 442, for the chassis, drivetrain and suspensions, and, of course, an AMT 1970 Chevelle SS454, or for this one, an SS396, i say 396 just toi be different. The paint is from MCW "Misty Turquoise" with clear coat, decals are from Keith Mark, addind wiring hose and some plumbing! Oups!!! The Cragar, an AMT 1966 Nova will give it! The vinyle was made by myself, with Evergreen and spraying technik. Don't mist my "built-up" album and video! http://public.fotki.com/mrchevyblack/model_car/general_motors_mode/chevrolet_division/1970-chevelle-ss454/ In Quebec, the licenses plate started with "X" and digit number was a dealer plates, my Chevelle was the "Boss" demo car!
Fisher61 Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Let me be the first to say that's beautiful! Done up in a not so common color, very, very clean and a great mix of parts! You did this simple kit justice!
camaroman Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Daniel, I love it... and all of your other builds... thanks for the link to your Fotki album!
David G. Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Excellent build! It seems to me that the color you picked is very near a GM stock color of the time.
W-409 Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Very good looking Chevelle, clean build all the way. Foiling looks nice, paintjob is very nice and I like that vinyl top very much, it looks very good. AMT's '70 Chevelle, I have never seen it, or I got bad memory. Engine looks very good too, nice detailing on it and chassis is looking good also.
davyou5 Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 My thoughts exactly!! That is one Excellent Chevelle you have built there . Good to see someone building one for a change.
catpack68 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 (edited) awesome work daniel!!! i like the wheel/tire combo and the color.i like the vinyl tire top too Edited November 21, 2010 by racer X
Gary Davis Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Man Daniel...your street car builds look as GREAT as your short Track cars do...Great job on this chevy.
chris731 Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Nice job, the top looks great and really sets the car off with the body color. Looks great.
zelkam Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Hi Dan, excellent build, i like color combination! The vinyl roof is really nice
MyBradKeselowski Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Beautiful ! ! ! Love that color ! ! !
superdog Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 that is really sharp!!!!!!!!!great build...Todd
W117monte Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 (edited) I just found this thread while i was searching for Chevelle models. Very cool!!!! This has inspired me to build a 70 again. I wish someone would make a really good 70 Chevelle kit, as the monogram and amt kits arent that great. Where did you get the color for it. Also where did you get 396 emblems? Its neat to build a less popular car somtimes. My dad has an Astro Blue 70 396. Edited February 8, 2011 by W117monte
george 53 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Well it may have taken you three kits ta get it like you wanted it, but it WAS worth it! VERY nice build! Great color an wheels(How can ya go wrong with Cragars?)GREAT BUILD!
sjordan2 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Very, very nice. So what's your spraying technique for the top?
redknight Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Excellent build! I built the Monogram '70 Chevelle about 20 years ago, and I still consider it one of my better displays. It's not to the caliber of yours, though.
oldscool Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 That is one nice Chevy and the color is great just like everyone else said. I have always thought the AMT version looked better than the Revellogram. The latter looks like it ran into a wall and flattened the front end. grumpy gus
W117monte Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 The AMT has a better front end. I like the monogram wheels better, the grill has better detail i think too. The crease on the monogram trunk is incorrect and should be sanded off. i wish someone would tool a new 70 kit and make it accurate! When i was a kid i had the red monogram chevelle. they stopped making that one. At least it had black stripes in it.
