Harry P. Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Yes Harry, we hear ya. Problem is, it's difficult to justify the cost of production. Sure we'd sell a few but TDR would have to at least break even on the deal to make it a worth while venture. I'm just not seeing the kind of feedback for the Charger or Super Bird to get the wheels turning and I'm fairly sure you don't want to take on the costs involved for a one off model. Yes...it could be done...in 1/12th or 1/8th, if you want one badly enough, it's up to you guys to rally enough support to make it happen. I know it's a financial impossibility. The price of the kit would have to be up there in Pocherland somewhere (or higher) to make it economically feasible to produce. But the question is... "what's your dream model"... (I was going to say Karolina Kurkova, but then I realized we were talking model cars here... )
Jon Cole Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Well as long as we keep out the usual factors such as “will it sell?â€, then I would go with any of the early to mid sixtees Corvair trucks: Greenbriar window van: Corvan panel van: Rampside pickup: The Loadside is the same as the Rampside, without the ramp.
Tommy Kortman Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I think right now my dream kit would be ...a completed one.
Peter Lombardo Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I already have my “Dream Kitâ€, I just haven’t mustered the will to build it yet. I want it to be perfect when I finally do it, so the fears of not doing justice to the kits involved are holding me back. I purchased the Gunze Sangyo kit on line a few years ago with the plan to open the hood and install the 289 engine from the AMT Cobra in it. I figured I would have to scratch build the rest of the components. I got as far as cutting open the hood and setting the engine aside. Then I saw that Harold Bradford was offering his amazing version of this car with full engine and under hood details. I contacted Harold and explained what I had planned and he was gracious enough to offer to send me, at a fair price, just the parts I would need to complete the Gunze Sangyo kit as I had planned. The castings he supplied were amazing. The delegacy of the front inner fender panels is beyond description. ( the blue on my thumb is from the Ford GT GT2/3 I am building…sorry about that) I mean, he even hand labeled the parts so there is no confusing what everything is. Every so often I open up the boxes and just look at the parts….they are all that good. The only other car, short of the 1956 and 1957 Buick, Pontiac and Olds, that I want in 1/24-1/25 scale is the Ford GT40 Mark IV. If only Fujimi or Tamiya or some one like that would produce this car with full detail (engine and under hood stuff), I could die a happy death knowing that I have all the kits I want to build.
davyou5 Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Lets see... 71-72 Buick Riviera, Chrysler PPG Pace car, An actual Accurate General Lee Model , A close to accurate Miami Vice Daytona Spyder kit, just to name a few. Also to end the Curse of finishing up a Great looking Ferrari Testarossa, which is what brought me to this community in the first place.
Rob Z Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 My dream kit and my biggest want is the 1965 Buick Wildcat Annual... Would like to have it to build so I can gift it to my uncle who used to own a 65' Wildcat and was his favourite car...
retrobuilder Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 68 impala, 69 impala, 71, 72, 73, 74, and 75 impala. I guess that's more than one. theses have all been issued but i would like to have them. 68-72 ford pickup.
DRG Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I'd be tickled pink if they would just put the customizing parts and accessories back into the kits like they were back in the day.
impcon Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Well, once yet again with great enthusiasm and empahasis - the '59 Chevy Brookwood four door wagon - like this - and this car - the main star attraction from the old Hawaii Five-) series.. McGarrett's luxury land yacht - his '68 Mercury Parklane Brougham 4 door hardtop - triple black and beaautiful!!!
Danno Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Well, once yet again with great enthusiasm and empahasis - the '59 Chevy Brookwood four door wagon - like this - and this car - the main star attraction from the old Hawaii Five-) series.. McGarrett's luxury land yacht - his '68 Mercury Parklane Brougham 4 door hardtop - triple black and beaautiful!!! I'm with you on both of those ... plus the Corvan & Corvair pickup Jon Cole brought up!
Aaronw Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I'd like to see a Chevrolet / GMC steel tilt cab truck. We have the nice AMT Ford C-600 and the adequate Lindberg L-700, so it would be nice to have the third of the big 3's medium duty cab over trucks to add some variety.
runsw/scissors Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I would like to se a 1/25 scale Tucker Torpedo. I know I'm the only one, which explains why we don't have one yet.
Jeff Johnston Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I'd be remiss if i didn't say this every single time this question is posted. The worst part of this is its an east 3 n1 (or 4 n1), and though I don't know shinola about model car marketing, I still bet it'd sell well. At least as well as the 72 Cutlass which was an interesting choice of subjects (not interesting as being a bad choice...rather more of a "gee I never thought of that one", and dang that's actually pretty cool... Mine is 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 XL Tell me this isn't cool ! Now for my whacky, never ever in a million years will this kit be done model car wish.... 69 Mercury Montego Coupe
old-hermit Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Any 1928 thru 1940 sedan in 1/8 scale. (two door and four door)

Mine is 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 XL Tell me this isn't cool ! i agree on the Ford, even thought about hacking up an impala (66) and a 66 fairlane and trying to meld them together. My other wish list kits would be a 34 or 36 dodge coupe (do it like the AMT 36 Ford, could be done as a coupe or roadster) or 55/56 or 57 Buick,Olds or Cadillac. Dream kit however would be a fully detailed 16th scale Pro Modified 63 split window vette (supercharged not nitrous). (Most of the motor could be pillaged from the revell funny car kits).
Hondo Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Since we're wishing/dreaming....... Both of these. Late '60s Dodge Crew cab hauler Early-mid '70s Chevy or GMC Crew cab pick up.
Deckerz Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Easy for me, my old beauty, i miss her but i will get another soon, i love this car even though it has its problems. Mine is now scrapped but thats where it was heading , it failed its MOT first then i decided to use it as my rally car for a few months (as the mg zr was a rally car anyway), but after 2 engines it was time to say bye. Rover 25/MG ZR, i had the rover but i changed the front grill, front lower lip, rear lower lip and rear spoiler to the MG ones. Here some pics of them, mine was the green one. Mine Below
CAL Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 (edited) All 1/24 plastic full detail kits. Peugeot 908 HiD FAP Porsche 550 RS Spyder Pangani Zonda C12 Bentely EXP Speed 8 2011 Porsche GT3 RSR Lola Aston Martin or Lola Mazda Edited December 6, 2010 by CAL
Chuck Most Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 If I had to pick just one? Bullet nose Stude. There. I said it!
Nick Winter Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Hows about any domestic 1 ton Dual wheel pickup, or crewcab, maybe some more 4wd pickups. Revell are you listening? How's about a early 80's Ford shortbed single cab, stepside single cab or longbed single cab
Darin Bastedo Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 i could list any number of models I would like to see tooled up. #1 would be a Cobra Daytona Coupe. Preferably in 1/25, and hopefully less expensive that the $185 i paid for my historic racing miniatures kit. (though that kit is worth every penny!) Second place would be a tie for about 30 different cars that move up and down the list based on my whim and the phase of the moon.
disabled modeler Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Dream kit is more like kits, there is so many possibilities Id love to have... 69/70 Pontiac Grand Prix. pre70 American vans. late 60s Pontiac,Cadillac,Chrysler,AMC. The return of the Johan kits. 69 Impala HT. pre73 Suburban. 66 Chrysler 300. and many more...it would just be too hard for me to narrow it down to one kit.
Mark Brown Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 A 1:12 scale kit of any of the popular musclecar era cars, done to the level of detail that such a large scale deserves - not just a scaled-up 1:25 kit.
charlie8575 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I've seen a lot of picks here that would make me very happy and would have me buying multiples of because I could. The Hornet is coming, so that's my biggest "want" out of the way. After that....tied between Chuck's call of a Studebaker Bullet-Nose or a 1940 LaSalle. Charlie Larkin
voljeepx Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 The one I want the most is a 1/24 scale JK Wrangler. I have conjured up a lot of thoughts on how to scratch build one, but to have one ready to go would be awesome! As for vintage cars, either a '61 Buick or Olds bubble top. In my opinion, the epitome of cool! Oh, and a '63 Olds Starfire would be nice too.
