Brutalform
I started this build a few months ago, and it started out as a grey colored Impala. Until I spilled some acetone, and ruined the paint, and a part of the body, I changed it to Tamiya # TS-8 Italian Red, and Testors One Coat Lacquer Clear. Its pretty much a out of box build, with the exception of the resin chassis molded by Porky. The 409 resin headers are from MCW. I saw the tires and rims on Ebay a while back, and got them for a nice price. I don't know what they are for though. I was pleased with the way it came out, and besides the acetone, I enjoyed the build. Thanks for looking!!! johnnyb
Very nice build. The BMF work is impressive. Why did you need to use a resin chassis -- to fit the big rear tires? Who is Porky? Thanks. Edited August 19, 2011 by johnnyb

Guest
That's a tough looking '61 Impala! What did you use to paint the wheels? BTW,they're from the old Monogram pro stock kits.

W-409
That's looking great. Good to see '61 Impalas being built like Pro Street style. The paintjob on this one looks good, and color is really nice. I like it. Engine looks very good too. Nothing to complaine...
Dominik
Very nice paintjob Tom! Well Done! I like the styling of the roof. Only the fat wheels on the back is not my tatse. For my own, i would make it lower to ground
EH225M
Really nice!! Believe it or not, the '61 looks like it was the basis for the styling of the EH in my avatar!

Steve Keck
Nice save! Love the paint. I think I'll try the acetone trick next time I don't like the way my build is progressing.
Sixties Sam
Great looking Chevy! Great paint and foil work! Looks tough! Sam
Jon Cole
Don't they look good in red?! Love the tires ('specially out back). Is that the Lindberg kit?
Tom Setzer
SHE"S REAL FINE, YOUR 409! Nice Paint and you did a great foil job. CHEERS! Tom
MrObsessive
This is one mighty nice Impala! The styling always reminded my of a wingless jet especially with that bubble roof-------in fact the whole '61 GM lineup save for Cadillac had the appearance of wingless jets! Monty
The ironic thing about good model photography is that it can expose a mediocre paint job. You, however, have nothing to worry about here since your photographic skills show that you have done the prep work required to obtain such a killer finish. Nice foil work, too! Brutalform
Don't they look good in red?! Love the tires ('specially out back). Is that the Lindberg kit? Yes it is a Lindburg. The tires are Pro Sportsmans, and the wheels are from a Pro Stock kit, according to plowboy. I just saw them on Ebay, and got them pretty cheap. The chassis is a resin piece molded by Porky. Kit Basher
That is really cool! The stance is just right and the tires and wheels are perfect. Nice job!
oldscool
I have been going back to this thread for days looking at your model and I must say that it is one of the best 61 Impala builds I have ever seen. Just shows what can really be done with this kit. Perfect color and the wheel choice is unique and fits it very well. gus
