GrandpaMcGurk Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I bought one of these kits..... opened the box, tossed in some scraps of balsa wood, glue, toothpicks and rust...put the cover back on, shook it and when I opened the box back up this Hillbilly Hot Rod fell out.
GrandpaMcGurk Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 That's all the pics for the Hilly Billy Hot Rod, now it's going back to the workbench to get turned into a "moonshine runner"....here's a sneak peek at the still and stake bed.
Models by Bear Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I need to get me one of those magic boxes, And see what it does for me.I like pretty cool . The Beverly Hillbillies would be jeleous.
mr moto Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Very cool and creative! I'll bet you had fun with that one.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I like it. Reminds me of one of Hogdoo Grundy's relatives.
Joe Handley Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I like it. Reminds me of one of Hogdoo Grundy's relatives. Wow Virgil, haven't heard that name mentioned in a loooooong time.
weasel Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 hmmmm, that gives me an idea.... i like it w/out the stakebed tho'
GrandpaMcGurk Posted November 20, 2011 Author Posted November 20, 2011 hmmmm, that gives me an idea.... i like it w/out the stakebed tho' Dick, I won't be using the plastic one in the photo (it was one I came across in my parts box while I was looking for parts to make the still with). I'll be putting several small wood kegs on the back of it......ready for delivery. BTW...what do you have in mind?
Sixties Sam Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 That's a cool rod! Looks like Jethro from the Beverly Hillbillies might have built it! Really creative and well done! Sam
David G. Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Nice work! The scary thing is that I've seen actual 1:1 vehicles no too different than this. David G.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I came back for more. It's got lots of personality, this build.
crazyjim Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Your mind works in strange ways, Don. Looks like it was/is a fun build.
GrandpaMcGurk Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 (edited) It's your doing Jim....I was perfectly content working on BIG stuff, now you & the other FAST members have gone and got me involved in these little cars. You're right though........they can be a lot of fun. The thing that bugs me the most is simply that they aren't large enough to really go beserk with extreme detailing - at least not for me. Don't forget, my favorite tool is a 5lb. hammer. Edited November 21, 2011 by GrandpaMcGurk
robertw Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Now that's what I call a true rat rod. An interesting, well done model.
crazyjim Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Well, if it's my fault, Don, it better be SHINY :)
Aaronw Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 There are a lot of cars that something like this would be silly, like one of those Wierdoes things. With a Model T it wouldn't be hard to find a photo to back that thing up, I like it. If you need barrels I found some some nice wooden barrels at Ozark Miniatures. I put some of the pickle barrels in the back of my Model T pickup. http://www.ozarkminiatures.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=290 http://www.ozarkminiatures.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=289
GrandpaMcGurk Posted November 22, 2011 Author Posted November 22, 2011 Thanks Aaron, I think those are pretty close to the ones I have (if I can ever find them). They were included in a wood model kit of an antique beer wagon. But anyway, thanks again, if I can't find the ones I have I'll know where to order them...appreciate it.
