Albie D Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Love this car. Got Larrys book and this and Grapevine are my handsdown favorites.
cruz Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 You are one of my favorite builders here my friend, fantastic job and of course, paint!
70mach1 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Looks great John!!! Great colors & Precision masking.
John Teresi Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 John......you did an absolutely FANTASTIC job on this,..........BEAUTIFUL
peekay Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Just thought I'd bring this one back - because it's SO nice!
Speedfreak Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 (edited) I'm glad you did Peter, this T-Bird is really, really beautiful Hey John, what do you mean, " with apologies To Billy Gibbons? Edited June 18, 2014 by Speedfreak
geetee66 Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Amazing work, John! You got the paint laid down SO well! Your gold lines are super-crisp. As I've just completed a Watson tribute, I'm massively impressed with yours. You totally nailed it and I'm sure Mr Watson would admire it with respect! Yes!
Dave Van Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 nice and clean build....my favorite no matter the subject!
Brett Barrow Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Yeah, this thing deserves to be bumped up to the main page every now and then! Hey John, what do you mean, " with apologies To Billy Gibbons? I'm guessing "Pennsylvania Bluebird" is a takeoff on Billy Gibbons' "Mexican Blackbird"
ChrisBcritter Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 The wheel covers are also Modelhaus repros of '59 Dodge caps, which were a custom option in an early '60s AMT kit (anybody remember which one?) 1962 Imperial (photo from current eBay listing #181440692860):
Ramfins59 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 That is one beautiful T-Bird John, and I love those '59 Dodge hubcaps. They are the "ultimate" spinner hubcap. Watson also put them on his '59 Caddy and his '57 Olds.
Skip Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 As much as I liked the Blackbird, I have to say that I like your color combination better, it fits the car and is in keeping with Larry Watson's colors on many of the cars he painted. Not all of his panel paint jobs were done with candies and pearls.
John Goschke Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 Wow! A nice surprise seeing this old thread resurface! Thanks for the additional comments, guys! And, Chris, a special thank you for supplying the answer to the question regarding the original source of the '59 Dodge caps! Come to think of it they would look great on a '62 Imperial! 1962 Imperial (photo from current eBay listing #181440692860):
carrucha Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I can't believe I missed this one back in 2012. I am glad it was brought back. Fabulous work John.
