traditional Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Although it's been reissued a few times, this model was built using the original Entex kit that I'd bought inexpensively decades ago, and sat unbuilt for most of that time. Other than a few tweaks to make some parts fit correctly and adding wire hinges to the 'golf bag compartment', it's built pretty much just as the kit intended but with my own choice of color etc. The original Entex kit provides a very satisfying level of detail with good quality molding and, to my eyes, proportion.......I am delighted with the end result. Paint is automotive basecoat/clearcoat with humbrol and testors used for details etc.
Dave Van Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Nice work...I wonder over to the classics once in a while!
sjordan Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Excellent work. What paint color did you use for the fenders?
Chuck Doan Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Beautifully done! That is a great paint scheme too.
Harry P. Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Is the trunk included in the kit? I see a few of these on ebay right now... very tempting...
traditional Posted April 21, 2012 Author Posted April 21, 2012 Is the trunk included in the kit? I see a few of these on ebay right now... very tempting... Yes, Harry, the steamer style trunk is included in the kit....the rack can fold down to carry it .
cortinanut Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Wow, very impressive! I've wondered how good those Entex kits are--now I want a few of them!
sjordan Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 (edited) Anyone who wants to build one of these can find good reference at www.fantasyjunction.com Click on each image to enlarge; They're big enough as is, so I just made pdfs of the pages. 1934 Packard 12 (engine/mechanical reference) http://www.fantasyju...n%20LeBaron-V12 1937 Packard Super 8: http://www.fantasyju...nline%208%20Cyl http://www.fantasyju...oupe-8-Cylinder Edited April 22, 2012 by sjordan
Junkman Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Actuallly, the original original is by Bandai: There also was a Formal Sedan: This is by far the nicest build of the kit I've ever seen.
stump Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 How many times have I given these a fleeting glance as I scan eBay.....???? Not at all what I'm usually into, but I reckon I could almost be convinced to buy one now I've seen what's "built" into a great build up. Super clean springs to mind regarding your building technique. Great work man.
sjordan Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Here's some more good reference on a V-12 roadster that's closer to the kit. http://www.boldride.com/ride/1937/packard-twelve-coupe-roadster
David G. Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Top knotch work, excellent color combination. David G.
64Comet404 Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 A really nice build, Cliff. Are those colours based on a real car? I vaguely recall a Packard cabriolet running around Ottawa a few decades back, but I can't remember the paint job.
Eric Macleod Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 I usually don't care for two-tone paint on the new-era Classics but this combination looks great. Fabulous model.
