Every now and then I pull out one of my old built kits, this is one from 30 years ago. Purple cleaner did it's magic, then I carved the doors open and put some Walmart rattle can paint on it. I just barely saved the glass from it's Testors glue trap! Thanks for looking.

That is one good looking '49! The opening doors are killer, engine detail great and chassis nice too! The color looks good and you can't go wrong with a stock '49 Ford in my opinion. I love it!

Great overhaul. Really really nice. What color is that on the motor? I know its proper for Fords of those years, but I can't seem to find a match for all the pics I've found.

That is one nice '49! Nice job on the doors-----that's how they should open for that era car, and excellent job on the engine details! That flathead looks amazing! B)

Testors bottle copper with a little red added. Thanks !

Nice job. My dad's 1st car was a 49 Ford and these are dear to my heart, even though he didn't like it and hasn't owned another Ford to this day! Love the opening doors.

An outstanding model. I've always liked the look of the base spec cars with small hubcaps and without too much chrome on them so this really appeals to me. The restrained road grime weathering is the icing on the cake. Great stuff, well done.

Very nice job. Do you happen to know about what ratio you used for mixing that engine paint?

Charlie Larkin

Charlie I believe it was just a few drops of red to a small Testor bottle, trial and error until it matches your reference photo. Remember your can always add but you cant take out so be conservative... Thanks

Very nice build.

I need your assistance.

In this picture (see attachment):

I can see the exhaust manifold and what appears to be a a crossover pipe just in front of the steering. I have seen these on other ones as well around here.

I am currently starting this same AMT 49 for kit, yet cannot find any exhaust manifolds for the flat head, nor a crossover pipe.

They do not appear on the instructions. I cannot find anything on the sprue.

Are you instructions different than mine (see attachment)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
