Pat Minarick Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 (edited) This is how they should have built '69 Cougar's. Edited April 2, 2018 by Pat Minarick
Chuck Most Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 I always wondered how a Sportsroof Cougar might have looked. Turns out it would look pretty good.
Qwit Pushin Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 This is one of those builds where you slap yourself in the forehead, and say, "Why didn't I think of that?!" Great idea, well executed!
Guest Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Now that's a good looking kitbash! Looks like something that coulda/shoulda rolled right out of the factory doors. What kit supplied the roof?
MAGNUM4342 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 I like it. Alot! I've always said there are very few cars that look good in orange. As it turns out...this is one of them. Well done.
Monty Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 I don't think it's the first time we've seen a fastback Cougar conversion on here, but this one is truly impressive. It appears you used Revell/Monogram parts to upgrade the chassis and engine, and I think I spy the Boss 429's hood scoop, louvers and rear spoiler, on the body. Looks like you found a way to improve the engine bay with a few Revellogram parts too. This is kitbashing at its best! I look forward to seeing more of your work. Couple questions: 1) Did you also use a Revellogram Mustang interior? 2) Did you have to do anything special to get that lowered stance.
jdcar32 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 A very handsome build ! Love the chassis inspection marks......
TooOld Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Now that is a good looking Cougar ! There have been a few fastbacks done before , but yours is by far the best executed I've seen . Excellent detailing , and I love the color !
Bart68 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Very nice job and I agree they should have built that car.
S. Svendsen Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Nice build. The fast back roof line really suits that body.
crazyjim Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Oh man, do I love this build. SHINY :) RULES! I once had an '86 (?) Capri in about the same color. I always wanted to put a green stem on the roof so it looked more like a pumpkin.
george 53 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Very VERY smooth conversion!!!! Looks like it was factory stock! Only thig I could see was the dash, Being a Merc, it shoulda had the Cougar dash. But hey, that's just me, an it in NO WAY takes ANYTHING away from it, it's STILL an VERY nicely built model!!!!
Grumpa Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Great looking build Pat. Very nice job. Too bad Mercury didn't grab the roof trom the Mach 1 and try it out back in '69!
bbowser Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Great looking build Pat. Very nice job. Too bad Mercury didn't grab the roof trom the Mach 1 and try it out back in '69! IIRC the formal roofline fit the Mercury upscale image, the fastback was reserved for the sportier Ford. Fantastic job on a factory phantom, I love these type builds.
