Luc Janssens Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Oh yeah, rub it in for us outside the US, even with the low rate of the USD vs the Euro the American kits remain expensive. And shipping costs when buying in the US also has gone through the roof. Oh well...glad Revell Germany is reboxing some US kits...
Scuderia Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 I wish I could get some more RoG kits here without ordering as well. There's pros and cons on both sides of pond certainly. I know I'll be going to Mike's tomorrow with the 50% as well hopefully something catches my eye.
Rob McKee Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 I went yesterday coupon in hand but couldn't find anything I was interested in. Ended up leaving with nothing.
Tom Geiger Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I went yesterday coupon in hand but couldn't find anything I was interested in. Ended up leaving with nothing. And you didn't give your coupon to some hot chick buying a big item??
Danny Lectro Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Over the weekend, I posted a brief comment on Michael's Facebook page about how much I enjoy shopping there, but that I would just like to see more and newer kits for sale. They followed up with a very non-commitally worded response about passing on my request to the appropriate parties. Hey, it was worth a shot right? Maybe if the members here were to also post to their facebook page, they might take a bit more notice?

Casey Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Over the weekend, I posted a brief comment on Michael's Facebook page about how much I enjoy shopping there, but that I would just like to see more and newer kits for sale. Just FYI, all Michael's stores are not equal, nor do they all carry the same volume of items. IIRC, there are A-, B-, and C-level stores, with A-level stores carrying the most product, and C-level the least amount. I've been in a C-level store and was surprised to see maybe 15 model kits total, while the A-level stores I usually shop at have closer to 75-80.
Jordan White Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 How can you tell what level a store is, besides of course by looking at the kit selection?
Edsel-Dan Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 I know the one in my area has more than only 15 kits. But as for the emessage idea. It would be a better one if it were actually Email. As some one else stated somewhere on the board, "Not everyone has been Assimilated into the faceBORG!!!" I have not,. and never Will be!!
Casey Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 How can you tell what level a store is, besides of course by looking at the kit selection? I'm not sure if you can find that out publicly. I think Chris Batson worked/works there and he mentioned it a few years ago.
martinfan5 Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 As much as I like 50% off coupons from Michaels, I would just be spending money to spend money
Scuderia Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 I WANTED to use mine, but after scouring the kit wall I almost left empty handed until I spotted the Audi kit I picked up, so I understand some of the selection woes.
Casey Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Looks like Michael's is carrying even more Round2 kits now:
blunc Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I still get 50% coupons in email, now I can fill in a few holes in my stash without breaking my piggy bank.
bigmerc2003 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Looks like your Michael's has newer kits than hobby lobby. They have an ap now that give a 40% off coupon or just sign up for emails and you get it weekly. Have to swing by mine tonight and see if they are up to date!
michaelbaskett Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 The Michaels nearest me has had the same stale Revell kits for going on three years now.... I go in every time I'm in the city, and leave empty handed each time....
ChrisBcritter Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Looks like Michael's is carrying even more Round2 kits now That looks identical to the display in Glenview right down to the selection - separate from the other racks of kits too.
Tom Geiger Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 I used to go into Michaels regularly with my printed 40 or 50% off coupons. I never found a kit I needed, so I'd be resigned to buying a can of Testors flat black or dullcote at the discount. It got to the point where I'd find nothing at all to buy! Then I'd look around for some craft lady with a big item in her cart and give her the coupon. At least I made someone's day!
rmvw guy Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Michaels is opening a new store here November 2nd just a few miles from my house and a lot closer than Hobby Lobby. Hope they have some good models. I need to sign up for coupons I guess. Not that I really need any more models. I just got about 5 new ones at a show yesterday. It would be hard to beat show prices,
Tom Geiger Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Not that I really need any more models. I just got about 5 new ones at a show yesterday. It would be hard to beat show prices, I count my blessings that I'm involved in the hobby and know about shows in my area. In this NY/NJ/PA area I regularly buy kits in the $5-10 range. So the prices at Hobby Lobby and Michaels, even at 50% off are no big whoop to me! I can understand guys who live in places where there are no such opportunities... like in Tanana, Alaska.. I've been watch Yukon Men for several seasons and haven't seen a hobby shop yet!
