Farmboy Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Finally got her finished. I went from two tone to solid black 'cause I thought it fit it's gangster persona. Also installed two flathead v-8's inline for power. Comments and observations welcome. thanx for stopping by.
Jantrix Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) NEATO! I've always wanted to do that very thing to Revells '59 Caddy Eldo. I really like this, well done! Edited July 20, 2012 by Jantrix
W-409 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 WOW, that looks like a Train to me ! Good job with it, and neat concept. All modifications are very well done, looks like factory produced.
CorvairJim Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Pretty flippin' AWESOME! Kind of reminds me of the late 1970's six-wheel Elf-Tyrell Formula 1 cars, but with full bodywork and no wings. Rob says '59 Eldorado, but I'm thinking a 1966 or '67 front wheel drive Toronado or Eldorado myself... Or how about a boattail Riviera (... if anyone had ever kitted one, that is)!
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Wow, that's really cool. Certainly one-of-a-kind. A freight train indeed. Great imagination and build.
DumpyDan Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Nice! That I bet was a tough one body work, great job on the hood and fenders............I LIKE!
cobraman Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Boy, you don't see anything like that every day. Nice work !
Dyno Davo Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Sly Stallone meets the Thunderbirds, I like it, nice to see a different interpretation of a classic, well done.
Badluck 13 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 The more I look at it the more I love it,I like how you did the duallie Flathead's,the hood graft is flawless...very cool idea!!!!
58 Impala Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Nice job. Kind of reminds me of Lady Penelope's car from the old TV series the Thunderbirds
rhs856 Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 This car is like an optical illusion. I keep following the lines saying to myself, "This just is not possible!" Fantastic job, Mike.
deathskull59 Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 very differant merc not the same old kustom ive seen a milllion times over and over agan.
David G. Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Very cool, and well done too! I am kind of curious as to how you dealt with the obvious front suspension issues. David G
Farmboy Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 Here are a couple of pics that were taken during the construction process. It actually sort of fell together easier than I thought it would: I will get photos as it is now but I haven't gotten back to my workbench in over a week.
dig Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 that is too awesome. did you do anything to tie the steering together? I have a 32 scale Thunderbirds kit & was wanting to something more elaborate like what you're doing, just got stuck on the engineering.. I love it
Farmboy Posted July 24, 2012 Author Posted July 24, 2012 If I chose to up the detail level, I would simply tie the two assemblies together with an adjustable rod. Conventional steering box linkage would do the job.
David G. Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 If I chose to up the detail level, I would simply tie the two assemblies together with an adjustable rod. Conventional steering box linkage would do the job. Interesting. I would have thought it would be a bit of a nightmare to make something like that look like a functional system. Thanks for the additional pics and info. David G.
zenrat Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 FAB Making 4 wheel steering work isn't too hard if you have the space. Steering on this works
