Harry P. Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Wow! Another beauty! Very nice. Heck, better than very nice. Spectacular!
jeffs396 Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Another great Monte Tom! Hard to believe a snap kit can look sooo good
Lunajammer Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 There sure have been some killer Monte's the last few months and this one is no exception. Really wonderful.
bbowser Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 That is sweet. Excellent job, just the right amount of weathering on the chassis.
Nick Winter Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Can I ask where the wheel covers are from? Beautiful build. Nick
Olskoolrodder Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 THERE'S a build you don't see everyday,VERY nicely done,my friend,very nice!
Repstock Posted July 24, 2012 Author Posted July 24, 2012 Can I ask where the wheel covers are from? Beautiful build. Nick I modified the 1973 Cadillac wheel cover. 2 sets were cast, and I've used them both, but I still have the master, Here's a shot of it before the finish work:
charlie8575 Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Another beauty. What did you use for the chassis? I can't see that goofy lowrider chassis being made to look that good for love nor money. Charlie Larkin
Repstock Posted July 24, 2012 Author Posted July 24, 2012 Another beauty. What did you use for the chassis? I can't see that goofy lowrider chassis being made to look that good for love nor money. Charlie Larkin It's a mixture of the '77 and '70 Monte Carlo chassis. I wanted to keep the '77 chassis wheelhousings. As it turns out, just using the '70 chassis is better. That's what I did on the '74 Monte.
David G. Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Excellent build! I love the subtle weathering on the chassis. David G.
sjordan2 Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Terrific all around. What type of paint did you use - is it a pearl or regular metallic? If it's regular metallic, you have certainly overcome the bass boat look.
Repstock Posted July 24, 2012 Author Posted July 24, 2012 Another excellent build from you Tom! What kind of paint do you use? I just finished a '68 Impala that I painted with Model Masters Artesian Turquoise and it looks pretty close to the color on your Monte Carlo. I'm not at home right now to look, but I think it's Duplicolor Hampstead Green.
kelson Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 I agree with everyone else that your Monte Carlo looks beautiful, was the paint shot from a rattle can or airbrush?
