Dragline Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 A bit of a slumpbuster after taking the summer off as i usually do. This was such a fun build I bought quite a few others in the series off eBay. Built in perhaps non traditional colors with foil trim. OOB these kits are hard to beat. Detailed, they would be contest winners i'm certain. Sorry for the lame background but I'm limited for space these days so the bench must pull double and even triple duties at times. Comments, good or ill are always accepted. Paints are all Duplicolor from either my NAPA store or another local I won't mention since they are the competition.. Thanks for looking. Bob
peter31a Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Wow! Very nice. Love to see the classics built up like this.
LDO Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Non-traditional colors? Nah. Those cars were coachbuilt. Any color the owner wanted is accurate. I think it looks great.
Lunajammer Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Yup, colors seem right at home. This is a good example for the youngsters about what ya can do with what ya got.
Dragline Posted November 17, 2012 Author Posted November 17, 2012 I appreciate the Kudos fellas. Just a rundown on the bargain basement paint used. Duplicolor Perfect Match silver, black and clear. Testors leather and wood for the interior with flocking. Various Tamiya Acrylics for the rest. Kit was about 15.00 plus ship I recall and it was sealed... Monogram 1/24 scale from about 1977. Not tough to find great stuff and do it in an OK fashion for short dough. Thanks for the Atta Boys. Bob
GeeBee Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Superb build, very realistic colours, I might have to look for one of these, it would go well with my '32 Chrysler
bbowser Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Great model. I'm looking to get into more of these classics, they just exude class.
sjordan2 Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Nice, nice, nice. Looks like you put a subtle wash on the grille mesh.
Jantrix Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 I think you got a contest winner just as it sits. Nice work.
Erik Smith Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 That does look great. It's a very clean build and the color choices are very nice.
IMSANUT Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Just beautiful! Makes me want to strip off the brass plating from ALL of the tree's in mine and try building it!
JustBill Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 I've had the pleasure of seeing this car in person. Its just a beautifully built machine. Great job again my friend. The pics don't do it justice.
