Reference book...

Mack AP Super Duty Trucks 1926-1938 Photo Archive, Warth, Thomas, 9781882256549 - Picture 1 of 1

Looks like a great read for inspiration.

Came across a condensed version of this tale...

bcsrmck.jpg.b5ca422c6dce8326387a9849c2eaabf7.jpg

years ago in an old readers digest compilation.

Neat story of a kid who inherits his dad's truck.

I just could not pass up this on Amazon.CA, so I ordered it last night - Revell 1966 Chevy Fleetside for $25 (Canadian) which is a great deal in Canada.

Lately I've been buying quite a few models but I had limited time to spare as I was my 93 year old father's primary caretake for the last 4 years. I have not had my 60 Corvette to a car show during that time.

Sadly Dad passed last month, September 12, 2024. Dad lost his mobility and was confined to the 2nd level of our house. His only entertainment was making his way to my bedroom to watch old movies, CNN, History channel, TV car shows and NHL hockey on my tv. He passed in my bedroom while waiting for me to turn tv on for him.

I miss him dearly.

I want to give you my sincere condolences about the loss of your father..

Bought assembled and brush-painted:

Had anticipated it being a glue-bomb needing to be stripped and rebuilt, but it isn't too bad and might respond well to a bit of Snake-Fu tidying and detailing.

I'm also deeply sorry about your dad's passing. I cared 24/7 for 15 months for my dad before he passed in February of this year at the age of 98 1/2. You did what many can't or won't do, so be very proud and know what you did for your dad will not go unnoticed. You're a outstanding son..

I have the entire series of these books, including the fire apparatus ones.  They're always a good source for inspiration and reference.

I read that book in the 6th grade, back before the turn of the century

Finally found a '64 Chevelle wagon that wasn't a bank-breaker; needs a lot of help on the glue splotches but very savable:

Hood is from a '65 (anyone have a spare '64 from the new Craftsman kit?), and I already got a firewall from another eBay seller. Toughest part will be the stock taillights; will probably have to pay through the nose for those unless I scratchbuild them, or I find a '64 El Camino that has a set I can cast. Probably will do a folded back seat if I don't have one in the parts pile.

By the way, has anyone else here managed to make an opening tailgate on one of these '64/'65 wagons?

With all of the body/chassis attachment back there, I wouldn't even try to open the tailgate on that wagon.  I'd bet the rear load floor in the interior isn't where it should be (probably too high relative to the lower edge of the tailgate).  A headache from the get-go IMO.

I ran across some photo etch details and a fabric blanket for my '66 Chevy Fleetside build already in progress. One piece I don't see the placement for, and how would I apply/bend the steering wheel ring to look right?image.thumb.jpeg.24f6403fe465130d3d705797bd531559.jpeg

Not that I needed anything else for the stash, but I found a seller online that had this for a ridiculous price. So for $22 USD (tax & shipping included!) I now have another Olds on the shelf.

I'm already working on a modified '69 442, so maybe this one will get the OOB treatment?

Living in what can only be called a hobby shop desert, I'm WAY behind the curve.  I just now got the Revell 1971 Boss 351 Mustang via an Amazon purchase I tacked onto some stuff my wife wanted.  Next the '71 Mach 1 kit.  Its not much but its honest work.

How on earth did you have a photo of the exact part and placement on the very same kit so readily available? Boggles the mind. ?
