ModWrench Posted Sunday at 03:03 AM Posted Sunday at 03:03 AM Ordered two kits from A-1 Raceworks 3D Resin Prints. A vintage Dirt Modified and a Super modified. Impressed with the great print quality and excellent detail on the chassis and suspension parts. Received within the quoted 3 week delivery time once ordered and payed for. I'll touch up a few areas with some light sanding and shoot some primer and see how everything looks. Check out their website at: www.A1Raceworks.com 6
OldNYJim Posted Sunday at 04:33 AM Posted Sunday at 04:33 AM Those both look awesome! Thanks for the heads-up on those!

I had high hopes for this one, but when it came in, I immediately saw the roof was partially crushed and the body is warped from something pressing down on the box for a long time (absolutely could not have happened in shipping), and the windshield was broken into two pieces. Very disappointing. No biggie on the windshield as I can make a better one easily enough, but the roof and warp add an order of magnitude of difficulty to building it...if I even CAN save it. Waiting to hear back from the seller to see whether he'll make it right. Half the reason I bought it was to have a 246 (already have the 206 Pininfarina Competizione), and half was to get the transverse-mounted Dino engine to pull molds from, to put resin engines in several Lancia Scorpions. Ah well. Life. I had the same thing happen a while back. I bought two early 90s Tamiya Toyota Celicas from a seller that were supposed to be perfect still in the shrink wrap. When they arrived they'd been open and the boxes had crushed the roofs down. It was obvious the seller already knew, but I let it pass. I can probably fix them, and maybe I will someday, but for now, they sit on the shelf. 1
Brenton Posted Sunday at 08:27 PM Posted Sunday at 08:27 PM (edited) Grabbed this up a few days ago at Hobby Lobby. Hopefully can start it soon! Edited Sunday at 08:28 PM by Brenton
NOBLNG Posted Sunday at 11:59 PM Posted Sunday at 11:59 PM (edited) The Mobius kit I traded for the race version at the club meeting today. The other two…what can I say…I’m a sucker for glue bombs.🤪 The Cougar ll is missing one wheel and tire, but I also grabbed some rims at the meet that should work. I don’t think the decals belong to it?? The Datsun is missing the driveshaft and the driver’s side mirror. Both I can easily fabricate should I ever get around to it.🥴 Edited Monday at 12:00 AM by NOBLNG 6
Mark Posted Monday at 12:36 AM Posted Monday at 12:36 AM That is the correct decal sheet for that Cougar II. The silver panel on the sheet is intended for use on the roof, as shown in the box art illustration.
OldNYJim Posted Monday at 03:20 AM Posted Monday at 03:20 AM Local swap meet this morning - found a couple of kits that were on my to-buy list: A bunch of 50s-era hot rod mag (for a quarter each!!): And, not really model related, but a 30” stop sign that my wife promptly confirmed shouldn’t be displayed in the lounge or bedroom like I originally intended 😂 The old mags are cool I think - one covers a late-50s model contest: 7

TarheelRick Posted Tuesday at 12:49 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:49 AM (edited) Stopped by Hobby Lobby on my way to the VA this afternoon. No 40% this week, but I walked by the Clearance aisle and found several bottles of different style paints on clearance and a Demon model kit. Before I paid for the kit I asked the clerk to allow me to look inside. The body and chassis were on top of the instruction sheet, they both looked good, and I figured I had anything else that may be damaged in my parts box. Got the kit home, took out the body, chassis, and instruction sheet. The rest of the kit is there, but every piece, every piece was removed from the sprue. Did not find anything warped. Has anyone had any issues with their kits? Not sure about these paints, not familiar with them but I liked these colors, wondering about 'transparent black', similar to Tamiya smoke? Anyway, they were only $3.49, so thought I would give them a try. Edited Tuesday at 12:59 AM by TarheelRick 4
TarheelRick Posted Tuesday at 01:21 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:21 AM The paints are water-based and pre-thinned/
A modeler named mike Posted Tuesday at 02:30 AM Posted Tuesday at 02:30 AM (edited) From ebay. I was offered a price reduction which made it impossible to pass up. Some glue clean up is needed and It has a few missing pieces that are replaceable. It was missing one rear tire and rim, which I have in my parts box, in fact I have all 4 rims for it that are mint. I already ordered new copies of the original decals that came with these kits from STS.. Edited Tuesday at 02:31 AM by A modeler named mike 4
Rob Hall Posted Tuesday at 07:08 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:08 PM Not anything new, but I unboxed a few boxes of my old kits last night..these are mostly kits I bought between 1995 and 2008. Some of these I haven't seen in 20 years. A mix of unbuilts, restorable used kits, well built oldies. Still have another 20 or so boxes to go through. 11
WillyBilly Posted Tuesday at 09:48 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:48 PM I had to do it. The 1/16 scale 55 was on sale, and who can resist Herbie. It will go with my Herbie Baja Bug. The Herbie is molded in color to match the real Herbie. 4

oldcarfan Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago An unplanned trip to Austin let me stop by HobbyTown and Kings Hobby. HT has the VW Van in stock at a good price. I'm glad Revell is reissuing this kit in the flattop version. I have one of the OG UN versions that I'd been thinking of building up and now I can keep it new in the box. This kit surprised me in that it's molded in a smokey tan color. The color kind of reminds me of a kit I got from my grandparents' house. They were heavy smokers and the kit had been in an open box for years. 3
