Last year I built a Crown Vic derby car and really enjoyed it…and I wanna build another one so I picked up another of the Lindberg Crown Vic kits:

This particular issue came with a nice display case…but I’m excited to build a companion for this one:

Got these from my brother.  He hasn't built in over 20 years and will be getting rid of his collection.  He said I could take ones I was interested in, and being I had loaned him some money in the past, this is like a partial repayment.  Several were our father's before he passed away.  Most are un-started save for the Superbird, Brooks Daytona, and Bonneville.

1/24 Otaki Lambo Cheetah, for about 15% of the average online asking price.

Typical light-on-detail older Japanese motorised kit, but as the actual Cheetah prototype was powered by a Chrysler 360 V8, getting some reasonable guts under it shouldn't be too hard.

89AKurt built a hot-rod version of it some time back.

Awesome!  First thing to check are the tires for dry rot.  Yea prices are stupid for this kit.  I'm stalled because I need to scratch a front suspension that looks somewhat realistic.  In other words, I painted myself into a corner.

Thanks Carl!  And will do if he does, haven't looked over his whole stash quite yet.

ST Blazer arrived today

Ordered 4 kits off ebay a few days ago. For some stupid reason, I got a message from the seller they were sold out. Anyways when I got home today, I got an alert from Megga Hobby that the Blazer was now in stock, so I ordered 4 from them plus an additional kit to get free shipping. Just watched HPIGuy on YouTube unbox it, and boy is it detailed. Enjoy yours

Took a journey after the dentist, these followed me home.

I just got that exact same Chrysler 300 kit back in December. Waiting for warmer weather before building it as spray painting is a little touch and go, even with military grade heat lamps in the garage.

Military grade heat lamp. So nuclear ordinance?🤔 I know how that is, my little shop is unheated, I use a torpedo heater to take the chill off. I've always like this era of cars, not sure how I'm going to build it.

When I first started working in the cabinet shop some 33 years ago, our original location was in a large wooden garage with a single sliding door in a alleyway of a lumberyard. We had a 30" box fan mounted in a piece of plywood stuck in a window opening. At that time we used Wagner electric spray guns to spray the lacquer and hand rolled the contact cement when laminating counter tops. Our heat source was two kerosene torpedo heaters, talk about massive headaches. We had no bathroom facilities, so we would have to walk approximately 20 feet to the nearest bathroom at the lumberyard. We had a 5 gallon can with a transmission funnel shoved in the pouring spout for when we wanted to urinate instead of walking to the bathroom. 🥴 No way in heck could anyone get away with that stuff nowadays.

I run my heater only as long as needed,  looking for a trailer furnace. Yeah,  it sounds like osha would have had a field day at that shop. Things were different 30 odd year's ago, I was barely a teenager.

I was leaning towards making mine a convertible; since the car was bought second hand it had been attempted to be built and was painted all black with a brush, so to minimize the amount of sanding off of that thick coat I thought why not chop the top off and put in the folded up convertible top that came with my 70 Bonneville sports hauler.

Cool idea,  I've got a 70 camaro with the same situation in testors neon green. I like the 'vert idea, but ill leave that to you. I may try and make that 300 as realistic as possible,  I've never built to that "extreme" before, but it's interesting the length some builders go to. With Models, like everything else I do, I try and always improve my ability. That's where I find the fun is.

That’s a good way to be. I may try the extreme detail route some day but the main reason why I don’t usually do crazy detail is because I’m always short on time. I’m pretty satisfied with just what parts come with the kit, not adding all the wires under the hood and other little things but I do take exterior and interior detail quite seriously.

I hear you loud and clear about short on time. I work on average 60 hours a week, plus wife, home owner, dogs ect. Time is the one thing you can't get more of.

Here's my haul for the week. I had to make two trips to Austin and stopped both times at HobbyTown. I love these Tamiya rereleases. I mostly do curbside stuff now and the prices on these is great. SkylineR32.jpg.38ebb0753e37818d532703ad09322b97.jpgSkylineGTR.jpg.ee8f1c85402d253f4a372f407f3162ba.jpg

Also got a can of Camel yellow for a future Range Rover project and the last good can of Model Master Green Go.Paint.jpg.11f94d2723574261dcc70d246286c2e4.jpg

And finally, after pirating the body out of the AMT Rabbit for Cannonball project I splurged and ordered the VW Caddy truck to go with the leftover AMT parts. I did a quick inspection and it looks the two will go together okay.CannonballVWGolfTruck.jpg.c355fe116b30c3f25b9c6637932e39db.jpg
