Casey Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I saw the "Favorite Kit to Build More Than Once" topic but I wondered who here will build a kit only once, then never again?
Lunajammer Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Every kit. I haven't doubled up on any. As the saying goes, "So many kits, so little time." And I would add, "Never say never again."

High octane Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I've built Revell's '41 Willys a few times and have another one started.
slusher Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 When l finished the 33 willys l said l would not build another one, just don't like the kit and it was not fun to build for me...
disabled modeler Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Id really build anything but there are models i could build as many as I could get a hold of...there is always another way to be built from the last version done.
Harry P. Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Generally I only build one of any given model. Once I've built one, my interest is off to other subjects. The only exceptions that I can think of offhand are the Monogram 1/8 Jaguar and the Big T (built 2 of each of those).
Tom Geiger Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I build slow so I don't have many duplicates. But every time I finish something, I think I should build another with the 'lessons learned'. My Heller Citroen is the poster child for that one!
gtx6970 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 The only kits I have built just one of , is the IMC Little Red Wagon ( aka Lindberg kit now ) and the MPC Wild Willie Borsch Altered. And I have no intentions to do another one of either I've only got one of the AMT 1962 Belair's done, but thats going to change soon
brad4321 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 There are far too many models that I want to build that I will never have time for to consider doing one model twice.
rel14 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Thats the best part of building, each time you can do a little more, and or modified stuff to inprove it,,the opitions are endless,,
Fabrux Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I have multiples of several kits to build different versions. Some are new-in-box, some are built-ups. Sometimes I'll build a kit now that I built when I was younger, either to replace one that was destroyed or one that I still have on display to see how far I've progressed.
MikeyB08 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I'm always try to revisit a past built model. Most of the time, I give a good 3-4 months before building the same model. I always try to find other ways to do stuff. Plus, being new to the custom model genre, I always thing of the best details after the fact.
scalenut Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 (edited) the revell/model king Henry J,, but honestly I think after that first build I'm not so scared of it anymore Edited March 13, 2013 by scalenut
Draggon Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 (edited) This one. It was so bad, and so far from a snapkit that I even threw the box away. I cant remember the name of it and dont give a fig. It fought me all the way. Check out the gap at the bottom of the windshield. UGH. Edited March 18, 2013 by Draggon
CEKPETHO BCE Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 There are a few models I will never build again. After building a Revell Ferrari Daytona (Miami Vice) I feel like never building another one. Same goes for Revell Shelby Cobra. For some reason I can't see myself ever building another one of those.
rmvw guy Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 If it's one I like I usually think in threes. Only exception is if I can only get one.
Ramfins59 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 buy multiples of some kits if I particularly like that car, but I've never actually built a second one of anything yet. I've got too many to go through for the first time around. I sometimes wind up stealing parts out of the second kit for other builds.
Deathgoblin Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I haven't been back into car building long enough do build any duplicates. I've got two Ferrari Mythos kits, but only one is getting built stock.
uncle potts Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I only build it once, except for the 50 chevy pickup, and the 2nd one was a rust bucket in a diorama. Once its done I'm off to something else.
Sport Suburban Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 I didn't think I would be a minority on this one but it looks like I am. I love muscle cars and build many of them so I have built the same kits many times all different ways. Lets see. I have built 2 Revell Thunderbolts and have 3 more. I have built 5 Revell Cobras and have many more to build. I just finished another Johan Javelin. That brings me to my next question. Are we talking about the exact same kit or are we including similar kits with variations. I just finished a 69 Cougar Eliminator that has a Boss 302 and a 4 speed. Plus I'm building a 69 Cougar 428 CJ with an automatic and different wheels.
