mangodart Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Be prepared for ( some say ) the worst US designed car... Personnaly, I like it, it's a very funny car and it sold quite well so seems that it wasn't a so bad idea in his time. So starting with the last AMT reissue, box stock except for the engine which I change for a 232ci 6 in line, I also change the wheels for some mag 500 ( I saved those wonderful kit wheels for an AMX....). I enlarge the chassis to be close to the body, I cut the front bumper and add some round styrene to duplicate the security system. The interior receive some flocking and I add the seat belt; Hope you'll like it
mangodart Posted May 20, 2013 Author Posted May 20, 2013 Some more pics I forgot to say taht the engine comes from an AMC Pacer from AMT
DrewCfromSC Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 pretty cool indeed. Had the 1974 Levis edition real car. It had real levis denim interior. It was a fun car to drive too, but rusted away to almost nothing.
Badluck 13 Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 That has to be one of the nicest Gremlin's I have seen built and very refreshing to see a more common six cylinder!!!
jerseyjunker1 Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 That has to be one of the nicest Gremlin's I have seen built and very refreshing to see a more common six cylinder!!! i totaly agree! you did a fantastic job capturing what the designers wanted us to see. i liked them the and i realy like them now.
W-Machine Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I like that you equipped yours with a straight six. Very nicely done.
slusher Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Best Gremlin build l have seen built. Very realistic engine bay detail..
Sixties Sam Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Very cool! The six is a nice touch. Great finish! Sam
disabled modeler Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 VERY NICE!...Have plans to build one like my late uncles car his was a 6cyl with the older small bumpers once I find the parts to make it.
Chris White Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 real nice kit, looks like a picture for the real car !!!!
Eric N. Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Wow For a minute there I was five yrs. old Thats's Perfect! Eric
smellyfatdude Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 (edited) That's a beautiful Gremlin, mango! Did the red stripe decals come with the kit? The ' 76 Gremlin reissue doesn't have any red ones. Edited May 20, 2013 by smellyfatdude
Dave Van Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 WOW!!!! 2 thumbs up from an owner of 2 real AMC's!!! NICE
DR Dubois Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Excellent job! Great looking Gremlin but I don't agree with you on one point... this was not the ugliest AMC. That would be the Pacer!! LOL
mangodart Posted May 20, 2013 Author Posted May 20, 2013 That's a beautiful Gremlin, mango! Did the red stripe decals come with the kit? The ' 76 Gremlin reissue doesn't have any red ones. Thanks everyone for all these kind comments, yes those stripe decals come with the kit, that is the only choice you've got with the 75 model on the kit
1972coronet Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Diablotin très agréable! Choix parfait de couleurs; beaucoup mieux que les couleurs de marron des années 1970 fades typiques. J'ai toujours le 1976 [Gremlin] rééditent d'il y a deux ou trois années. Je suis un peu intimidé par cela!
bbowser Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Very nice model. You did a wonderful job, love the 6-banger.
Monty Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 The kit you started with wasn't exactly AMT's best effort engineering-wise, so you are to be commended for making this build turn out so nicely. Suddenly it's the '70s all over again!
