IMPALA SS 427 Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Finished this one today, I had no intentions of chopping it at first (i was going to build it like the box art) but after eyeballing it i thought the roof was too high, so i chopped it about 3 or 4 mm and put it back together. I didn't plan on smoothing the roof but after i brush painted the roof tan it looked bad. paint was uneven and i lost the texture of the roof so i block sanded it smooth and repainted it. the body on this was giving me hell, the paint kept going wrong so when i got it sort of good i settled with it so the paints not perfect. Anyway i like the overall look of it and I'm pleased with the final result. I made the mistake of using super glue during the final assembly and i ended up with the white fogging from it. I cleaned it up as best i could but I'm not sure how to remove it easily All comments welcome.
Roncla Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 That has turned out great. The chop looks just right and colors suit it perfect. Nice build.
RatRod Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Looks great to me!!! I've got a dark maroon chopped C'Dan in the works myself.

crazyjim Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 The SHINY :) looks good. I guess what I thought was polishing compound is actually CA fog. Have tried rubbing it out?
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Absolutely perfect amount of chop for one of these. Great color too.
lazlow Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 That looks like a gangster hot rod, I like it, Funny how some mistakes end up looking better then what we start with. Good job. Laz
IMPALA SS 427 Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 Thanks guys. The colour was a Power Plus Touch up paint i got from Supercheap on sale It was called Cranberry and although you cant really see in the pics its kinda metallic, it looks great in the sun.
IMPALA SS 427 Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 Also i carefully went over the body with Q tips with water and got most of it off then i did the same with polish and it looks better but i sure won't be using super glue during final assembily again...
