FullPowerGarage Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 I do too, spent a lot of time on car meets, I've 10 meter from a truck starting it's F16 jet engines and give a demonstration every september since 2005, no protection. But I blame music, I hate the peeeeeep noise but the buzz there is when the peeeeep is gone is dureable. But I would love to hear nothing but silence.
High octane Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Bill, I'm retired from the Sheet Metal industry after 35 + years. I also used to like my music loud enough to "feel it." Standing close to ultra high horsepower drag cars and drag boats with the engines running didn't help matters either. If only I knew back then?
FullPowerGarage Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 I've been twice to Monster Jam, I thought those earplugs where stupid back then, well, now I would have put them in.
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Tinnitus, I can relate to that... I have it, too. Not as bad, but like Joe says, it's worse when there isn't any background noise. Mine is from working in a noisy auto repair shop, between the compressor running and the air tools, plus being around open exhaust hot rods and (race cars, airplanes) all my life, I should count myself lucky I can hear at all. Yup. Real silence would be nice. Oh well.
Harry P. Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 The first full day of spring... and I awoke to snow falling. MORE?! Charlie Larkin It's snowing right now. We're supposed to get 1-3 inches. It was 75 here a few days ago.
Joe Handley Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 It's snowing right now. We're supposed to get 1-3 inches. It was 75 here a few days ago. Beat me to it Harry, it started right about the time I got home from work.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Why is it that I get a craving for honey orange chicken at 11:34 at night? Oh well, cereal will have to suffice.
unclescott58 Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 It's snowing right now. We're supposed to get 1-3 inches. It was 75 here a few days ago. Basically the same thing here Harry. I've been out of town for the weekend, and have not heard or seen a weather forecast. I'm really hoping we're not going to get any accumulation of snow. Winter needs to end! Scott
blunc Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 please send some of your winter here. we've had 90 deg days already.
Danno Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Don't get carried away, Mike. Those guys will try to send us ALL their snow and ALL their frigid temps!
bobthehobbyguy Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 We will take any snow you want to send our way here in California. As it stands we are looking at another year of drought.
Guest Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 please send some of your winter here. we've had 90 deg days already. I will take that over cold any day. My joints don't ache in the heat.
unclescott58 Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 please send some of your winter here. we've had 90 deg days already. Quit complaining. If we could we would. Almost 24 hours, and the snow is still sticking to the trees and grass. At least the streets and sidewalks are clear. Scott
Rob Hall Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 please send some of your winter here. we've had 90 deg days already. I'm looking forward to November. I hate the long hot summers here. If everything goes to plan, this will be my last summer in AZ.
oldnslow Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Just looked at the forecast, it's supposed to be in the 30s here Sunday night, Sure wish Mother Nature would make up her mind, my tomatoes are 2 ' high and blooming.
Rob Hall Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) Where do you want to go ? Ideally, I'd like to move back to Denver, or to So Cal, Seattle or Boston--all have strong tech job markets and are very appealing to me--interesting metro areas with lots to do, lots of culture and better climates IMO. But my Mom and brother aren't getting any younger (and they won't move) and I'd like to live closer to them, see them more often, so probably Pittsburgh, Columbus or Cleveland, all of which are equidistant to the family farm and have major hub airports and viable career opportunities--I still have 20 years or so until retirement. And I do love driving the back roads in E. Ohio/ W. Pa... plus being back there I can go to the Indy 500 more often. Being originally from there, snow/ice/cold/gray doesn't bother me..I'd trade up to a new Jeep. Edited March 23, 2015 by Rob Hall
cobraman Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I would like to get out of Arizona too, well at least the Phoenix area. I like Prescott a lot but don't know if I have another move in me plus my house has still not gained the value it lost 4 years ago. Add to that my 2 sisters both moved to Surprise and since were not getting any younger it is nice to be close to them both. Guess I'm stuck for now.
FullPowerGarage Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I have a question to everyone suffering from the annoying peep in the head. What do you do when trying to sleep or when it's quiet, how do you try to live with it? It's slowly getting me down and sleeping with radio on won't help my much needed nightrest. I have a visit to the doctor planned on 15th of april. Way to long.
Harry P. Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Well, we got 6 inches of snow here last night and this morning. It finally stopped snowing around noon or so. And the funny thing is, the high on Wednesday is supposed to be in the 60s! Come on, Mother Nature... make up your mind! Is it still winter, or is it spring???

My sister is here in Phoenix also--been here off and on for 35 years, but she wants to move to the East Coast for work, so that's another plus for me for Ohio/Pa...
atomicholiday Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 McDonalds in Ligonier IN. If you're ever in the area, go somewhere else to eat. Worst service and food of any McD's anywhere.
Harry P. Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Worst service and food of any McD's anywhere. Is there a McD's with good food anywhere? Just kidding! For the price, they do a good job. I wouldn't want to rely on McD for my daily diet but every once in a while...
atomicholiday Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Is there a McD's with good food anywhere? Nope. Just degrees of bad and worse. My local McD just happens to fall under worse.
Rob Hall Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 My most recent McD story... I do like their bacon egg and cheese biscuit sandwich and coffee once in a while. One morning last week, I was going through the drive through at 6am..two young women were at the drive through window, one taking orders and one making coffee..they bumped into each other and started fighting--screaming obsenities at each other and pulling hair...like something from the Jerry Springer show. The shift manager broke it up and got me my sandwich and coffee....
