Neighbor kids screaming, nosy adults causing a bunch of ghetto drama, dogs everywhere....... Just need quieter surroundings. I know what that's like (minus the ghetto drama). Lucky though that you're actually moving. We've just got to stay put a little while longer. Mortgage for our house should be paid off by the end of this year, and my parent's don't want another one so this one has to be paid before we can make like a tree and get out of here. Not the same neighborhood that it was in 2009 unfortunatley. 1
NOBLNG Posted May 8 Posted May 8 (edited) The city wants to change the zoning laws so that they can grant a permit without any public input to build a 40 foot tall fourplexs in neighborhoods like mine. We are all single or split level homes on 50x100 foot lots. This all came about when the feds decided to hand out cash to cities to solve the housing crisis that they created. Edit: I don’t want to move because I am easy walking distance from a mall and there are lots of stores and restaurants nearby. But if my next door neighbours house got bought and torn down by a developer to build a 4plex…🤬 Edited May 8 by NOBLNG 1

My old apartment was a quiet decent place to live, 8-9years in the property was sold, all manor mess followed. Arguing, police presence ect. Wasn't long after I made my decision.
stitchdup Posted May 8 Posted May 8 I had a guy dealing heroin staying upstairs a few years back. the cops raided him many times but never found anything. our bins got collected a day early after christmas and i found his stash hidden behind them. I opened the bag and used it for the toilet then called the cops. they found it that time. but this guy was the same idiot that tried to rob a post office and ended up being beaten by a kid with tape dispenser. the video was on youtube but i cant find it now. edit; found it https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-17377089 2 1

That's exactly how it went here! This newest management only cares about your rent being paid. They make a bunch of arbitrary rules that they don't even enforce, and when you try to complain to them, they say they only "manage" these properties, they don't "own" them, so I guess they aren't responsible for what goes on here..... 1

Must be the typical business model for these kind of places. The one I lived in has been sold twice in the 9 years since I've left. I heard all the same things you mentioned. 2
Falcon Ranchero Posted May 9 Posted May 9 My little 1962 Oritone radio doesn't seem to work anymore; turned it on yesterday morning out in my grandma's garage, like I had been doing every day this week in preparation to make sure it works to scare the bears away before I go and bring it to the back with me to have there while I haul more stuff out of the gully. Just has barely audible static now. Changed the battery and the same thing still happens. Might've overused it a little; I know I got all excited over it since it's 63 years old and still works, but also picks up period correct music. Should've just used it sparingly unless it's a restored piece, which it didn't appear to be. That being said it might just need a cleaning since it is kinda filthy on the inside, and where the battery connects looks like a previous battery corroded there once, so I dunno. 1
LennyB Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Nathan, a lot of those old radios will need a good cleaning from time to time with some electrical contact cleaner. Generally the tuning and volume dials need to be cleaned. Had one once that had a headphone jack and that went bad and couldn’t get any sound out of the radio as it was stuck in headphone mode. 3
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 9 Posted May 9 One of those things I really shouldn't let get to me, but it's been mentioned here recently so here goes. I had to go out to fun a few errands, and everywhere I went, some clown had parked all wonky sideways over-the-lines cockeyed crooked. Grocery store, PO, drug store, and bank. I don't know what's going on with people's sense of spatial awareness, but a lot of 'em seem to be having a hard time maintaining their own lane when they're moving too. And the clown who cut in front of me from the RH lane just about 75 feet from an intersection to get in the far LH turn lane, narrowly missing several other cars that were slamming on their brakes and blowing their horns. And the wizards "resealing" the grocery store strip mall parking lot who thought it would be smart to block the two main entrances at the same time, making people have to go way out of the way, or turn around and come back to enter. Plus, the quality of the work looks like they're doing a sticky black paint job rather than a real asphalt sealer...and working out of pickups with no company names, like the property manager got tricked into a super "bargain" deal by a bunch of con artists. The lot was, by the way, in excellent shape, and didn't look to me like it needed anything. 2 2
Little Timmy Posted May 9 Posted May 9 (edited) So earlier today I was approaching a red light. The light turned green while I was still 2 or 300 feet away. All other traffic stopped as I proceeded to roll into the intersection at about 8 mph A car approaching from my right made NO attempt to stop and from the far right lane blew across 2 lanes into the left turn lane and right across my trucks front bumper . I hit the brakes an missed him by inches. My irk it the police officer in the squad car directly opposite from me did. NOTHING !!!!!! He saw the whole thing but I guess he didn't want to drop the Doughnuts. Edited May 10 by Little Timmy Got my own directions wrong 1 5

You talk about dumbbells on the road. Yesterday I got tied up in traffic because of an accident, took a bit to figure out what was going on. There was a Subaru Outback on the shoulder with the tailgate pushed in but no other car to be seen. The other car was about a 1/4 mile down the road surrounded by police and emergency vehicles. Idiot tried to flee the accident scene but there was nothing left of the front of his Honda which died at the end of a trail of fluids. 1 1

TonyK Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Brings back memories except there wouldn't have been an Amazon battery in it. No such thing in the 60's. 😀 1

rattle can man Posted May 11 Posted May 11 You could try turning the tuner quickly back and forth. It might be enough to remove any oxidation. Or you could try to find some tuner/ contact cleaner. When you opened the case did it smell real bad? If so, it probably needs more than cleaning. As to what irked me, my surgeon's office (non-VA) refuses to do the paperwork for continued care under the community care program. They say I have to do it. So I hope I didn't do any damage to the repairs when working in the garden today. 1
A modeler named mike Posted May 11 Posted May 11 (edited) Drugs... not the prescription kind, but the junk that's being pushed and manufactured locally in drug houses by the dealers such as Meth and PCP. The fricken money is go good they don't give a flying turd about who they've got making or buying the junk and what it's doing to their mental and physical health. People are expendable. It's all about the money! Our justice system is a joke! Bust them, jail them and when they get back out, they go right back to doing the same dand thing. Accountability is not there for what these clowns do. Reform is an absolute joke. The "only" cure is to rid the world of these low lives when they're caught! No jail!, No bail!, No paperwork!, just good old rope and a sturdy tree. Edited May 11 by A modeler named mike To clean it up.. 1

I normally don't judge someone on their vises, this topic I'll make an exception. I lost a childhood friend two year's ago due to fentinol.(spelling). Dude was like a brother to me. They found him the day before Thanksgiving. I'm still ticked off with his decision on using that junk. As for the sub-human garbage that make and sell it, well,I'd probably be banned from the forum if I spoke my mind. 2

And your solution with a rope should not be limited to low lives but the 🐍 lawyers that get them off. 2
HomerS Posted May 11 Posted May 11 During a Joint Traffic Enforcement Detail at approximately 1:20 a.m. this morning Dayton OH officers caught a 15-year-old driving 104 miles per hour on Route 4. The 15-year-old did not have a license nor a temporary permit. There were four other people in the vehicle and all of them were under 22 years of age. The 15-year-old was cited, given a court date, and officers called his mother to come get him. Wait...Driving those speeds and NOT on the Interstate? Not arrested....car not impounded....? Wow....just WOW! 1
Mark Posted May 11 Posted May 11 If the car had been stolen, it would have been impounded so that the rightful owner could get soaked for towing and storage fees. With everything of value liberated from the trunk. 2
