johnyrotten Posted September 8 Posted September 8 My wife's jetta did volkswagen things today. severe misfire on one cylinder out of the blue. The irk came when swapping coils to diagnose, the miss cleared up. 25 minute test drive, still good. Odd. Five new plugs and replaced that coil pack anyway. Ordered 5 oem, I'm not trusting aftermarket. 2

Old Buckaroo Posted September 9 Posted September 9 I can normally dismiss stuff but this is starting to really annoy me "Contingency decals" The last couple Intakes, headers, and other performance parts have downsized their decals to about 1/12 scale. What are you supposed to put those on ?

What are you supposed to put those on ? Hmmmmmmm...saving a few pennies here and there, which is universal corporate policy now...or maybe figuring if they're too small to show up in photos they can dodge contingency payouts?

89AKurt Posted September 10 Posted September 10 I have a First World Irk! 🙄 I live on a street that ends to the left (slight downhill), observed almost all strangers pick my driveway to turn around with (coming from the right). I'm a left turn. The driveway slopes down, is one lane wide, and is gravel. They don't look to the right (second "home" never here) and see the square, double wide, level driveway that they can back into, then be able to see down the street. But nooooo...... It's usually a rear wheel drive vehicle, with a light load. Today it was an Amazon truck, I looked at him and motioned, so he didn't peel out, but had total blind spot for the street. Missed the neighbor's mailbox. I mean seriously, there have been yard sales up the street, when I *had to* park at the street. Can't pick the easy one, no...... Oh yea, make it at least a three pointer U-turn too. 😅 I could inconvenience myself and install a motorized gate. 1
TonyK Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Costco has this new thing where you can pay extra and be an "Executive Member" which gets you in an hour earlier than the peasants. I'm not about to pay more as there are some months I don't even go there so it's not worth it. Anyway, today was the first time I witnessed the cluster this thing causes. I should point out that I go to stores when they open. Grocery shopping at 6 AM and other stores early and Costco when they open. Now Costco is already open for the fancy members while the rest of us have to stand and wait. Some people don't know about this new deal so they try to go in and are told they can't. We're told to form a line to one side so the "royalty" can go in but that doesn't work very well. Once inside it's very crowded because there are all the early entry people and now the rest of us. So this new thing just causes a lot of turmoil for everyone and I wonder how many customers might spring for the new scam so they can go in early which would be the the previous regular time for everyone.
rattle can man Posted September 10 Posted September 10 tech gadgets. my cell provider has said no issues, but I'm not getting texts in a timely manner. Case inpoint: My youngest daughter and son both texted me on Sept 2 that my oldest daughter had passed away. The text came through somtime between Friday and yesterday. There have been enough family issues in the past and this did not help any! 4

89AKurt Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Blowing $160 on a room at Comfort Inn in Boise. So nowadays a pad of paper and a pen is overkill. No little bottle of lotion either. First World Irk, but remember when Motel 6 started up, what was the cost? 1

I stayed in the same hotel many times in the past and the water pressure in the shower was very high and invigorating. This time the shower head was barely peeing the water out. Yes, I asked for maintenance to look at it. They are even getting stingy on water! They are nickel-and-diming us all to death. 3

There was a fix to that - years ago when I was living in Motels related to work. Id take a wrench and unscrew the shower head, inside was a little round piece of brass with a hole in the center. (looked like a mini drum cymbal) Take that restrictor plate out and throw it away. You had a shower head with enough force that Kramer would've been envious of. The more recent ones are molded in the plastic 😕 Edited September 11 by Old Buckaroo 1 2 1
John M. Posted Monday at 08:24 PM Posted Monday at 08:24 PM (edited) I got home from my morning school runs and the outside of my car was clean. When I went out to it to return for my afternoon school runs, the birds used it for target practice with multiple hits on the roof, hood windshield and trunk lid. Thankfully, one of the bus mechanic who was washing one of our busses saw the car's mess and power washed it all off. That made me happy. I have an image to uphold. TonyK Posted Tuesday at 02:52 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:52 PM Grocery prices and gas price. Went grocery shopping today and filled up with gas. I should be used to these high prices but continue to be amazed at the cost of some things. Then I'm kind of surprised at how cheap a few things are. Very few. Not gonna go into specifics but overall it's painful to go to the store. Just gotta deal with it and move on. 1

Should buy him an adult beverage as a sign of gratitude for cleaning your car. Bird droppings can do major damage to a paint finish that even the best paint sealants may not be able to prevent.
TonyK Posted Tuesday at 07:13 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:13 PM My wife has always been good about letting me know when any bird stuff has landed on her car so I can clean it right away.
rattle can man Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago yes those grocery prices. And the fact that farmers barely get by on the pittance they are paid for what they produce.
TonyK Posted 12 minutes ago Posted 12 minutes ago Taking my dog in for foot surgery today. He's had a lump between his toes on the back foot and it's gotten worse over the past week or so. They think something is embedded in there. As much as this irks me, this morning is also an irk as he can't have any treats or breakfast. The stoppage of the usual routine can't be explained to a dog. He just looks at me as if I'm stupid for not following the rules.
