Ace-Garageguy Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 I slept very badly last night, and now, after feeling kinda rough all day, I have chills, a fever, and a hacking cough. Bugger.

crazyjim Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 Sounds like you need to move to a warmer climate - like Arizona.
cobraman Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 49 here early this morning. 54 now at 930. Going up to 67. Great time to be in Arizona.
ranma Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 (edited) Some a-holes broke into our shed, Stole all my tools, floor jack for my car, and a box that I had of20 vintage unbuilt SMP/MPC models! I filed a Police report, and that Info will be going to my Insurance Company. The Officer told me that there were some other shed's broke into last night as well. Edited November 13, 2018 by ranma

Yeah, it was 41 this AM, going all the way up to 49 this PM, with rain, more rain, and still more rain through Thursday. Not much chance of wildfires though.

Sometimes I really have to question just WHY debilitating mantraps are illegal.
slusher Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 I really get sad, when I see fires burning out west and people loosing their lives. The people who live loosing their homes.
olsbooks Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 On a lighter side but just as irksome... I dropped a 1/87 scale brass windshield wiper arm the other day. After crawling around with a super trooper light, then recall the sound it made while running away from me. Metal tinging. Yup...down the heat register. Never mind the fact the register is a quarter mile away, raised, and has mr coffee filter on it to prevent this from happening. Exagerated I admit...but not that much. It defies the law of physics. Surely it's not MY fault. Time, space, gravity anomoly, doom ray from Andromeda, or demons are involved. Peace.
ranma Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 (edited) Went to use a newer bottle of Testors gloss white, only to find out it Hardened in the bottle! I bought it two month ago, I have a old (black label ) flat white that is a few years old with no Bar code, and it's still useable. Testors must have changed their paint formula or something. I've had several do that the last few years. I think they have bad batches sometimes. My issue is that it now takes forever for their paints to dry! I was told though it is the EPA's blame for that.
ranma Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 Though a '57 Chevy is a '57 Chevy if the box is tagged to have a molded in in red, I'd expect a red car and not this!
cobraman Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 I would prefer the white for less painting problems. I am guessing you really wanted the red ?
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 After 3 days without internet, and being forced by Comcast to waste half a day taking my old modem/router in to swap it BEFORE they'd even send a tech out, the tech who finally got me up and running said there was most likely NOTHING wrong with the old unit, after he found and corrected problems with the lines feeding the house. And the way you have to go through multiple really stupid robots to even GET to a tech-support person somewhere in India is beyond belief. "Smart" systems they're just not. Interestingly, a crew was in my neighborhood today fixing apparently identical issues for multiple subscribers, but it had never occurred to home-office tech support that so many people on the same node with identical problems might MEAN something. Annoyingly, Comcast is the only cable internet provider who services this location, so I'm stuck with them.
JollySipper Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 Spectrum has the monopoly here, and since they've taken over all the Time Warner customers their service has gone downhill.... every other day there's service techs here in the complex...
crazyjim Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 (edited) Maybe there'll be better internet service in Aridzona, Bill. We have Spectrum here in in FLA, Tim, and very few problems. Knock on wood. Edited November 16, 2018 by crazyjim
Rob Hall Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 (edited) Except for a few outages when storms damaged the lines in the alley behind my house, Cox was fine the 9 years I was in Phoenix. Cox is good here in the Cleveland burbs also, I got their fastest home service and am happy with it. I never rent the modem from the internet provider, always buy my own modem & router and upgrade every few years to a faster wifi router. I had Cox cable TV in AZ, but cut the cord on cable and stream content from Netflix, Hulu, Brit Box, Amazon, etc. Edited November 16, 2018 by Rob Hall
cobraman Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 I have Cox for internet and Direct for TV. Both have been pretty good but lately the Direct has been loosing some of my recorded programs but a reboot of the box brings them back.
OldTrucker Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 We have Direct TV right now and ATT internet. Getting ready to cut the cord so to speak and go on antenna. Not worth the cost as 99.8% of what we watch is from local stations we can get on antenna!
NYLIBUD Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 (edited) Spending almost two hours sitting in one of those wasteful walk in medical clinics. Then to be told by some lousy quack that there's nothing he can do,and that I should just go to the ER..I said goodbye and left..I really need to shop around again for a new doctor.?????. Annoyingly, Comcast is the only cable internet provider who services this location, so I'm stuck with them. I had that same problem a few years ago with Verizon. After dealing with the idiots on the phone, who read me the riot act that the problem was probably of my own doing, and if they sent out a technician and he revealed that, I would be charged a few million dollars for his inconvenience... well, turned out that it was their blade or node back at headquarters. They sent out a technician who said everything was fine, he could ping back to headquarters and I was receiving the correct signal. He called in a second tech, who left the meter on my system and watched when it dipped. He said he had seen this before and correctly diagnosed the issue! Edited November 17, 2018 by Tom Geiger
olsbooks Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 (edited) My only Internet choice was frontier. Savages. While it took some adjusting, I cut the cord. All internet stuff now completed at Dunkin donuts during morning coffee. The savings pay for my coffee. Now, should dunkin be out of my favorite donut, well, it gets ugly. That's not savagery or indifference or even a rip off...that's cruelty to animals. Peace. Edited November 17, 2018 by olsbooks
HomerS Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 We moved away from Direct TV as due to constant issues with the signal strength. I don't think the sales rep at HHGregg appreciated my comment to stop sending the tech with the lazy eye to align the dish! He said they sent their best guy, in fact the guy he has dial his own personal dish in. You had four tries with a different tech each time and clearly went with 'good enough' not 'we have a good signal'. Time Warner was short lived as a replacement as we had signal issues which I was willing to have (to a certain extent) with satellite but not actual cable. When we left to Cincinnati Bell, Time Warner did not credit my account correctly and charged me $10.xx for not bringing the equipment back on time and even sent me to collections. I wrote a nasty-gram and just lit them up on the WalMart quality equipment, service 'quality' and we actually brought the equipment back before the end of the contract. They cancelled the collection and refunded about $30. Still won't go back to them.....
PierreR89 Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Was getting my Jeep ready to use during the winter for those days when it is snow on the ground and just when i was going to take it out for a testdrive i stepped on the brake and broke the rear left brakecylinder.... Brakefluid on the backingplate for the drum gave me a big hint that it broke... Worst part is, i replaced the brakeshoes in the rear on it just last year and have not drove more then 500km,s with it since then.... For those that dont know, brakefluid contaminates the frictionmaterial on the brakeshoes and it is almost impossible to get them clean as the material absorbs the brakefluid..
