Counting to three must now be harder than it used to be.

I ordered and paid for THREE books, tracking showed three books shipped together under the same number, opened the package and saw three books on the packing-slip...BUT THERE WERE ONLY TWO BOOKS IN THE ENVELOPE.

Now I'm getting the runaround because USPS shows all three delivered.

You are so right Bill. We had the reverse problem. We ordered a toy construction set for my grandson from Amazon. Had it go right to my daughter in Virginia. Just a small set that cost 17 bucks with Prime free shipping. Well. it arrived on Thursday and instead of that one set she got a master case of 6 !   And yes she/we will be asking to return the 5 extra ones.

Update: Got return labels from seller, taped 'em to the tires, schlepped them over to the local UPS/FedEx shop and sent 'em on their merry way. Now the refund wait begins... Meanwhile my boss had me pick up a new set of Assurance All-Seasons at Walmart, and I made sure they had late-'21 date codes!

I got bad news last night (phone calls after 9pm are never good) that my older brother had passed at age 72. We had been estranged for years, esp. after our mother's death almost 6 years ago. He had a lot of issues in life, but I have to look at the positives--he got me into model cars 40+ years ago, into Mustangs and '60s muscle cars.

He could be a very unpleasant and difficult individual, but was still family. 

I'm sure he left no will, so now comes the messy aspects of cleaning up and clearing out the family farm (which I own 1/3 of), selling his car and motorcycle collection, cleaning up the property and selling it...

So...I get home from a hard day in the mines, sitz down at my computer to check a few tracking numbers for parts, and start to smell plastic burning. 

First thing I thinks to myself is "self...that smells like plastic burning. Have I overloaded some space-heater circuit, and is I bee in danger of burning the dang house down?"

So I checks and no wires bees melting. I thinks maybees I otter go outside and see if the truck is on fire. Nope. But whatcha think I sees?

Through the trees, just a block away, I sees a HUGE bonfire...violating every damm fire law in the county. WAY less than 50 feet from any tree or structure, well after 6:00 PM when all burning is spozed to cease, and judging from the chemical stench and the black oily nature of the plume, it's carcinogenic smoke with PCBs and suchlike, coming from burning plastic...also absolutely verboten.

But hey...the folks doing the burning have already violated the zoning laws with impunity by operating a landscaping service there after they moved their 30+ family members elsewhere, so what can I say?

At least they're not living there now, so I don't have to try to sleep on the weekend nights with the walls shaking from blaring, thumping music at 3:00 AM (also in violation of county law).

And hey...what's a little carcinogenic smoke, anyway? I'm old, so who cares? I'll probably die from something else before whatever's in the smoke gets me.

Real glad I'll be movin' on soon, though. They take stupid, risky, unpermitted burning pretty seriously where I'm going.

They both involve redesign and reworking of multiple custom systems both clients paid other shops a lot of money for, and got incompetent but expensive crapola.

The "D" students of today are the Amazon delivery folks of tomorrow.  This sign was more for the delivery driver that puts the 50 pound bag of dog food from Chewy in front of the door but since we've been adding more stuff from them, the driver barely makes the porch.

Wife ordered some groceries items today and the bonehead set it to where I can't open the door.  The order was an hour beyond the projected delivery window so the teenager was coming home from school so the problem was resolved.

I’ve had that issue with Grubhub and DoorDash food delivery drivers leaving food orders right up against the door.  I have room to the right of the right of the door to place items, and the roof overhangs the doorway so it’s usually sheltered.  My Amazon/Whole Foods delivery drivers are usually good about placing the bags to the side, but occasionally I’ll find two 24 flats of bottled water against the door.    Or strangely sometimes drivers leave a package against the garage door.   Glad I have cameras with views of the front door from two angles and the driveway…

Was the same story at the shop I used to work at. It seemed like we spent more time fixing mistakes/safety issues from other shops than actually working on our own stuff. Do custom shops not actually road test anything anymore? Braking systems were one of the worst. Brakes that either didn't hardly work at all or that were so poorly designed (poor pedal ratio) you had to be Hercules to be able to stop the vehicle.
