mikemodeler Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 They are calling for some snow event this weekend in the Carolinas. Not sure where the storm will track so they (weather forecasters) are covering their butts by saying we could get anywhere from a trace to 8 inches! Told the wife we better stock up on food now because if they keep screaming snow on the news, the stores will be emptied by Friday morning. The upside is that we are supposed to be back to the 50's by Tuesday so whatever snow we do get, won't last long. If the snow was forecast to possibly hit us on Friday, we would be talking school and business closures, something we rarely saw growing up in Northern Illinois.
cowboy rich Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Well not far outside Canon City CO. we have about 6" in the yard and my coworker that would have been coming down from Denver said he had about 8-9" in his drive way and couldn't get out so unexpected bench time today.

Yes the forecasters do cover their butts, however they also play up a few flakes to LOTS of snow. I'm going to stop watching the weather forecast on the news and just read the forecast in the newspaper without any fanfare from now on. It is getting old.
Tom Geiger Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 My backyard right now. Snow is coming down at a fair clip, just can't see it in a photograph. Glad I am working from home today, indoors and no where to go!
NYLIBUD Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Yea,I hear ya,I'm freezing my butt off here on Long Island.Give me spring,and fall.The winter,and summer..Blaaaaa??Too hot,and too cold.

crazyjim Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 But the government in PR was taking huge amounts of money so the infrastructure turned to garbage.

1930fordpickup Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 I can deal with snow. I don't like that ice stuff, too much damage. We had around 6 inches but it is single digit weather now, so the salt they use is not working.

crazyjim Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 I got a chill just looking at those pics, Dan.
High octane Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 I was hoping that the "S" word meant sunshine. Sigh.
cowboy rich Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 20171229_143458.mp4 Don't know if this will work but I guess I'll see Right now I would take snow over the rain and impending flood

crazyjim Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 What happens when the snow melts AND it's raining?
Xingu Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Snow is expected in Florida next week. Can't wait for the stories to show up on the news.
crazyjim Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Can you believe it? The talk is for a chance of snow flurries in Tampa. Since we're 100 miles north, we'd be in a blizzard. And it's going to be even colder going into the 30s. Nobody in Florida has a furnace. All we have are heat pumps and they don't [pump out heat like a furnace does.

Tom Geiger Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 A few inches of snow here west of Philadelphia overnight. I was surprised it was snowing when I woke up this morning. It's cold enough that it hasn't started to melt, which worked fine for me. I managed to blow off both cars and the driveway with my leaf blower.
1930fordpickup Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 It is time to bring back this old post. We are at the start of the big snow event. 2 inches down and more to go. Windy and cold just like real winter.
Cornpatch Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Real ray of sun shine aren't you. We have the same conditions here in Iowa. Sun shining and cold as h--- outside. Makes for a great Weekend-----NOT
