Tom99 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 This 62 Ford Galaxie 500 is an original issue, AMT annual kit. It's painted in 1962 Ford Chestnut, from Scalefinishes.com.
bbowser Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Great model! The clip for the 'opening hood' really takes me back
peekay Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 A great old kit that obviously fell into the right hands! Well done.
lordairgtar Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Really cool. I could never get those clips to attach when I was a kid.
cobraman Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Very nice. Brings back memories for me as my first car was a 62 Ford.
1930fordpickup Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 My favorite 62 anything . Yours looks great.
Sixties Sam Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Very nice! It's good to see the old AMT annuals being saved. I remember those hood clips, too. Sometimes they would fly off when you opened the hood! Sam
PappyD340 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Extemely NICE build Tom, beautiful paint, man it's been a long time since I saw one of those clip hinges, I'm sure it brings back fond memories for a lot of us of our childhood modeling days!!
Geno Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Beautiful build Tom, do you know if that color is the same as Emberglow? Just curious. Thanks.
Tom99 Posted December 17, 2013 Author Posted December 17, 2013 Beautiful build Tom, do you know if that color is the same as Emberglow? Just curious. Thanks. I actually thought that myself. I am working on another original annual, a 66 Mustang that is going to be Emberglow. Putting the two colors side by side, the Emberglow is just a shade lighter with a little more metalic in it. Without them side by side, you really can not tell the difference.
realgone58 Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Yes, Emberglow is different. Beautiful build!
Bob Ellis Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Love those hood clips. They originated from the SMP 1961 Chevys. The 1961 AMT Galaxies used a rubber band.
