Repstock Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Just finished this small diorama. Building is mostly .060 styrene. 1/25 scale of course!
Ramfins59 Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Tom, that looks great. I'm sure there are not many of these Fotomat places around anymore with everyone using Digital Cameras now.
rmvw guy Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Nice job, .very impressive work. The colors and lighting are brilliant.
charlie8575 Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Funny...I've actually been toying with building a Fotomat booth. Nice job on that, Tom. Charlie Larkin
misterNNL Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Very nice diorama!Very realistic looking with great attention to deatils. Thanks for sharing with us.
cobraman Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Man is that nice ! You did a great job on that !
Tom Geiger Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 What is this "Film"?? Very cool diorama. At one point I thought about doing one of these myself, but you know the procrastination thing! Glad you did it. And BTW, Photomat never had a bathroom! They always made a deal with a store in the shopping center so their employees could use their restroom. Yea, I knew a girl who worked there once and asked!
flat-top Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Awesome , now this is original . Very nice job.
the goon Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Very cool. I've still got some rolls of film that need to be developed Mark
crazyrichard Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 whow thats really cool !! awsome build !! also love the road and the papers flying around .. maybe ... if you got the nerv .. weather the yellow of the roof just a tiny tiny bit ... thats wuld really make it pop , like thise ridges in the roof will get extra depth with a wash and since the road is also not super clean that will tie in with ...very very cool stuff
dptydawg Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Excellent diorama, Tom. Lots of interesting little details. Carl
slusher Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Man that is awesome Tom, I remember them well. Great build idea and great build. I think the Fotomats died in the 80's...
mikemodeler Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Great job and as always, nice details! I have seen many of these converted to coffee or cigarette drive thru shops.
Mike Kucaba Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Excellent work Tom! Looks period perfect.
Sixties Sam Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 That is really nice! Great details, even got the lady's purse in there! Wonderful work! Sam
Danno Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Stunning! Spectacular work, Tom. You really captured it. The back-stock of film, the window ads, the little boom box on the desktop; everything! The only things missing are bins of finished orders, stacks of envelopes, and a pile of inventory sheets on the desktop. I worked as a runner for a similar company (1-Day Photo) for awhile in '70. It was an amazing operation back in those pre-digital days! And the girls were all young . . . and . . . beautiful! (On purpose, of course.) It was a great job (!).
gasser59 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 That is stellar. Great idea for a mini dio. Very well executed with all of the little details.
realgone58 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 That is great! I completely forgot about these things until I saw your post. Nice Monte Carlo by the way. Where did you source the correct hub caps for it?
Maindrian Pace Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Beautiful job. There was a Fotomat near me in a grocery store parking lot for ever, the main building still stands and is now a drive-up bottled water kiosk. Desert, you know. -MJS
JBucci Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Beautiful work Tom. I also want to build a Foto Mat diorama.
