JM485 Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 That people will pay that much for this car. Don't get me wrong, it looks nice and I love the show, but some people are beyond clueless. http://www.ebay.com/itm/291109842425
Rob Hall Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 (edited) Take a zero out and move the comma and the price would be perhaps more realistic..it's just a 302 automatic w/ an AM radio and some custom wheels, not even a Mach 1. Without the wheels and paint, it's what, maybe a $5000-10000k car? A base '72 fastback... Edited March 25, 2014 by Rob Hall
Harry P. Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 159 bids. Looks like quite a few people want it. Unless they're all shills.
martinfan5 Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 159 bids. Looks like quite a few people want it. Unless they're all shills. I think that is more like it
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 (edited) I figure max 10k for the car, another 10k for the paint, throw in another 5k for the interior, and 2.5k tops for the wheels / tires. Another 5k for the belts / hoses, manifold, carb... That's $32,500. Where's the rest of the value on this? Edited March 25, 2014 by Ace-Garageguy
crazyjim Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 If that's the car that was on their TV show the other night, they were complaining about all the different shade of green in the interior.
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 159 bids. Looks like quite a few people want it. Unless they're all shills. A lot of them are the same bidders, and several of the bidders are low-number buyers. Kinda unusual bidding pattern for a real deal.
Lunajammer Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 The power of television. It's not just a car, it's a screen used product of Hollywood from an hour long commercial.
cobraman Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I watched that episode and they didn't spend too much building that car. What boggles my mind is the fact that in the same episode they found and auctioned at JB a 1969 Boss 429 black on black that was all orginal for a lot less than that 72. Someone had more money than sense. IMO. Just think what you could buy for 200 grand.
Harry P. Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Plenty of visible rust. Which means even more that you don't see. The bottom of the door is actually rusted through..
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 ... Just think what you could buy for 200 grand... Yeah, I figure I could get a girlfriend for a couple of years, at least.
tbill Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 crazy I tell ya. new paint [but we didn't do the door jambs, or even the spare wheel, lol] we got her running, but spent no time detailing the engine compartment, or neatening up the wires/vac lines etc. we left the underside 'patina'd' so you can deal with the rust/BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH looking underside, oh and if that's the finished interior, the door panels look like the originals [note the wrinkles and bumps in spots]. oh well, it is what it is, a fool and his money.................
bobthehobbyguy Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I sure wouldn't buy a car from those goofballs. Fast and stupid was the type of programming that made decide to give up on tv and cancel dish.
oldnslow Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I doubt he'll ever collect a dime off the auction, there's probably a bunch of morons playing a game bidding the price up.
Deano Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 The wacko bids have been removed; it sold for just over $51K.
Quick GMC Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 It's filthy, they didn't even bother to wash under the hood. And those wheels are disgusting. If I had $51k to spend on a car, I'd do it, but I'd want the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH thing washed first.
JM485 Posted March 26, 2014 Author Posted March 26, 2014 Still, 51k is still way to high for that car! I honestly like the show a lot, and I think the cars they really dive deep into turn out well. It's the ones like this mustang that they start up a few times, throw some paint on, and then sell that I would stay away from. Richard isn't stupid, he knows that those cars are what will make him the quick money and that people will keep buying them. There's a reason he has been so successful, he knows what will sell and builds his cars accordingly. Aron's race car seemed like it was pretty cool, as was the bandit Trans Am, I wouldn't mind owning either of those! Haha
Harry P. Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Yeah, I figure I could get a girlfriend for a couple of years, at least. Probably several, if you sweet-talked them with manufacturing...
Harry P. Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Must have been a typo. I checked the bidding history... it was never at $200,000.
Old Buckaroo Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Well all the junk on craigslist will have another zero added on the price now. Things were just starting to come back down to reality . After the last BJ auction rusted out camaro bodies with no doors, subframe or anything else that was held in place by bolts , clips or welds skyrocketed with that catch phrase - You know what this would be worth fixed up
A.R.C. Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Anybody that is willing to pay that amount for such a low grade job done by those clowns deserves to be fleeced.
Danno Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Probably several, if you sweet-talked them with manufacturing... Boy, Howdy! That's a flashback! {Now we're recycling old jokes.}
JM485 Posted March 26, 2014 Author Posted March 26, 2014 Must have been a typo. I checked the bidding history... it was never at $200,000. No typo Harry, this morning when I made the post the car was up at over 200,000 dollars. The bid history must have been deleted with the fraudulent bids.
slusher Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I like the show and watch it. I can't see 50k for such a low desired Mustang. Someone bought it because the like the show and I am sure they can afford it ...
