Looks like the (very good) AMT '62 Bel Air kit is arriving soon, this time as a 2'n1 kit with both the stock and mild custom parts included, as well as new decals and box art to match.

I'll buy one of them just for the box art.

and btw,

anyone got any better pictures of this car. I've looked off an on for several years and never been able to come up with any other view besides whats shown on the box

What are the "mild custom" parts they're talking about? The Torq Thrusts and Offy valve covers?

I assume it's these parts which were included in kit #8716, with the blue box art car: "Also includes optional custom Mickey Thompson 'Power Ram' intake manifold, Offenhasuer valve covers, high performance velocity stacks and air cleaner."

I bought the Dave Strickler "Old Reliable" version way back when, and it was the first modern-era AMT kit I built which I was really impressed by. The parts fit, ease of assembly, and modeling were all excellent, and there were no issues I can recall having, but IIRC the trunk lip molding was never engraved into the tooling, and there may have been minor rear suspension, too.

This is a very welcome re-release! Or I don't know can we talk about re-release once the kit has a new decal sheet and optional parts that the previous Super Stock issues didn't have.

I have been looking for these, but they are getting a bit hard to find. Of course there are many of them in eBay, but many times their shipping is way off. I have to get a couple of these, as I need to build at least one with those new decals, and then I need one of these as a donor kit to build a '63 Z11 Impala with that Z11 Big Block this kit has.

These AMT '62 Chevrolets are really nice quality kits, so I can't wait to get this one as I'm really excited about it...This is maybe even more interesting than the new Slingster that I still need to buy, too....

I found a photo of this car on eBay.The whole car is red,it has tuned by A&J Inc.on the front fender,Jardine Headers instead of Stahl, and the number 732.On the rear fender it says driven by Joe Gardner & Arnie Waldman.Engine by Bill Jenkins.

I think the photo is being sold by a company called farmfresh1004 .

Good to see this one again, one of their better efforts, and I love that new box art. I did this stock version last year...

This is the only color pic I can find of this car. And I've looked off an on for the last 5 years

You can clearly see the 2 tone gold and white

And Yes , I am glad to see this coming coming back to the shelves. I've built a couple of them.

Nice builds guys, looking forward to this kit.

Off topic I know, but I dig that '57 ragtop.

Is seems the car was run in both '62 and '63, so hat may account for some of the differences?

Not aware of the grille issues ?

What was wrong or / corrected.

ps, till just the past few days, this is the only color picture of this car I have ever been able to find.

I can see the ft edge of the hood is gold, top of the hood is red, is it the same treatment on the decklid

is the cowl area red or gold ?

, same for the area betwen the decklid and the base of the rear glass ?

I've had the Cady decals to do this car for years and never able to be 100% sure how what was red or what was gold .

I have maybe 8 or 10 of these kits already but will buy one of the new releases if for nuttin else but the box art

I think the spacing of the "bars" was wrong, but it's long since been corrected.

Thanks for posting those pics, Brett.
