Mr mopar Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Nice to see it back on the self .................. where would we find the rims for the 80's Roadrunner ? the pad stamped tires are very nice .
CapSat 6 Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 The closest thing to stock Road Runner rims I have found are what I think are the custom wheels in the AMT Vantom/ Phantom Ford Van. I picked up a few sets of these at a swap meet many years ago. They're white plastic, unchromed typical late '70's custom pickup and Van rims with triangular vents. They look like they are a scale 14" or 15" diameter in 1/25 scale. The 1:1 Road Runner rims that year had chrome trim around the triangular openings. I'm not sure how I would replicate that. Using Evergreen strip so finely and repeatedly would probably drive me insane. Perhaps a careful application of the paint mixed with glue method?
1972coronet Posted July 10, 2016 Author Posted July 10, 2016 fOr the longest timeI was under the impression that Rallye Wheels were still available in 1980 . However , all of my research has turned up the other , body coloured wheels as being the correct wheels ; apparently , there were some anodised, stylled aluminimum wheels available as well (?) .I'm planning on using either Rallye wheels or plan wheels with hubcaps . Time " wheel" tell ?

Tom Geiger Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Regarding Auto Correct..I work in an international company and work with people in different countries all day long. Every fifth email triggers auto correct to start correcting in that person's home language! Even though they wrote me in English. All I know how to do is reboot my email program and start over!I heard that the inventor of Auto Correct died recently... may he Rust In Peas

These are folks I've met in person and converse with daily via email, internal IMs, internal phones and Skype meetings. We also deal with vendors in India on a daily basis. We have 18 hrs of time zones to deal with. We will hold organizational meetings at 8am EDT, which translates to 1-2pm in Europe and 8pm in Japan and China. We have a few troopers in California who dial in at 6am for these calls. When we deal exclusively with either Japan or China, we'll do so on their schedule, 8 or 9pm our time, out of respect for when they do the same for us! Edited July 14, 2016 by Tom Geiger
unclescott58 Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 F the phones guys! I want to hear about the Volare. Enough all ready!
Rob Hall Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 (edited) Not much to say that hasn't been said in this thread. There are pics of the kit contents a couple pages back, Don Sikora's post. It's a typical MPC kit of that era. Edited July 14, 2016 by Rob Hall
caine440 Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Got mine a couple of days ago.Just like old times but molded in white which is a good thing.
Agent G Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Ok all you serious car builders, what roof should I use to transform this (and the Chevy Nova hatchback) into a 4 door?I drove 4 door versions of both in my career.G
Rob Hall Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Seems like it would require scratch building w sheet styrene to make the 4dr roofline.
