That's my sedan mate, and believe it or not , here is a pic of the VC ute i am doing up at the moment.

I want that! I'll send you my address here in the USA!

My friend in Perth had a blue one and promised me first right of refusal if he ever sold it. I was told that he'd never sell it, so I lost track. Recently another friend told me he had sold it! Argh!

Thanks for posting the pix!

Saw these yesterday while picking up my repaired Dodge Caravan. The guy we use is into air cooled VWs and everyone who has those brings them to him for repair or restoration. My camera somehow went to black and white, and I didn't notice as I took these in direct sunlight with no glasses! The Beetle is bright purple and the Ghia was super nice. It's black primer with a new white top! I've been thinking about that one ever since!

Back to the Aussie stuff. I love cars and utes from down under. Let's see more. And for those without books on Australian cars (and even for those who do have some books), you might want to tell us what were looking at. The first series of pictures on the page before, look like two 70's Holdens and a 70's Falcon. The photo of the ute, is what a '66 or '67 Valiant Wayfair? Again these maybe common to you guys. But, to rest of the world they are uncommon and exciting. Share more with us. That goes for people from other parts of the world. Show us in the US what we may not know. Or know little of. There are a lot of cool cars out there that we do not see. Or likely to ever see here (though somebody has an early 70's Australian Falcon that sometimes shows up at car shows around here).

Sorry Scott, i just presumed you guys know our cars like we Aussies know yours, you were pretty well on the money though mate.

The first pic is a Green 1970 LC Holden GTR Torana 202 6ccyl with a turbo, The first 2 toranas is what Fractalign is scratch building in the workshop section.

Black 1974 LJ Holden XU1 Torans, this one runs a Holden 308 V8, way NOT factory fitted.

Black 1973 Ford XB GT Falcon Coupe, which has been done as the Max Max interceptor.

The second pic from the front: 1972 HQ Holden Monaro, with a Statesman front end and runs a very strong 350 chev

The white one in MY 1966 VC Valiant, has flared guards from the 70's and runs a strong 360/727 combo.

The green one is a 1973 VJ Charger (aussie version) , also running a strong 360

At the back is a 1975 LH Holden Torana which is running a 350 chev.

The ute i posted is my own 1966 VC Valiant Wayfarer ute which i pulled out of a barn 18 months ago, (was pink, so needed to be painted) which runs a 245 Hemi 6cyl , and i have done ALL the work myself, will be registered very soon.

cheers, Dale

On the way home from the new house I saw a Pro-street '68 Road Runner or GTX and at a light next to me there was a '71(?) Road Runner. Oh yeah, and a brand new Corvette Stingray going the other way in yellow...was hard not to see that one.

Just to ask about what you guys have posted..I've never seen a Tesla..What does it look like and is it only electric? How far does it go on a charge and is there any kind of motor in it to charge the batteries as you drive? Distance till empty charge, how far? Pictures please front, rear 3/4 side etc. and how much for this car?

Thanks Dale. That helps a lot. The trouble with the United States is a lot of people and the press do not look outside of the US. To many, I may even say to most, there is nothing outside of the US worth looking at. Unless it's imported here or threatens our security. Very few American know anything about the rest of the world at all. We even know little to nothing about our neighbor to the north, Canada. And few people here know much about Australian cars at all. There are very few books or magazines in this country that ever show or talk about Australian cars. I have several books. But, they are mostly books either printed in and for, or mainly sold in Australia.

The more you Aussies share with us car buffs in the US the better. There were a lot of very cool cars built for the Australian market only, mainly in the 60's and 70's that would blow the minds of US car buffs today. I wonder how many American buffs know that Chrysler of Australia use to offer cars with a Hemi and six-pack in one engine package? Yes a Hemi and six-pack together! In a straight six no less. Or that there were Valiant Chargers. Falcon GT-HOs. Or Holden HSVs. And many other cool cars we know little to nothing about up here.

So please tell us more. When sharing pictures, tell us what we're looking at. I may know more than most people here. But, I don't know enough and I'm always looking to learn more.

Here's a link to their site.

It's pure electric, so it needs to be plugged in to charge, but should be able upwards of 300 miles per charge with the big battery. Talked to a guy at work last year that drove from suburban Chicago well into Michigan on 1 charge with his! The accelleration is phenominal too, there's video of one with the big battery racing a new C7 Vette and after multiple passes, the wins were fairly even between the two! It also aced NHTSA's crash tests, including causing the roof pillar crush machine to shut down to prevent it from damaging with itself.

I first started paying attention to Australian cars (probably like a lot of Americans) after the first Mad Max movie. I've particularly liked some of the ute variants we never see here, and especially the one Aussie car we DID get...the 2004-2006 GTO based (i think) on your Holden V2 / Vz Monaro. Absolutely brilliant car, and sounds just perfect.

The Monaro (aka Pontiac GTO) was a really nice car when they intro'd it here back then, but GM dropped the ball (as usual) and didn't advertise and upgrade the car fast enough after the intro. The equally nice Commodore (aka Pontiac G8) is a car that I truly lust after, and as you said Bill-------they sound absolutely terrific on the road.

Sadly, Pontiac is gone and all those cars with it. Chevy offers the SS now, which is nothing more than the G8 reborn-----but with a pricetag of $43,000+ I won't be getting one anytime soon! :o

Wish this topic had been started a couple of years back. Can I do a retro post?

No pic but I saw in Constable country(Flatford Mill), most unusual, a 1930s Bugatti, one of the larger chassis, on Swiss plates. Never ever seen anything this exotic or valuable since!
